Job Description

AltaGas - Coordinator, External Relations

At AltaGas, our External Relations team is responsible for building and strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, government representatives, community stakeholders, and industry partners. We are seeking a highly organized and proactive External Relations Coordinator to provide administrative, operational, and communications support to a fast-paced team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, takes initiative, and can confidently navigate changing priorities. As a key member of the team, you will coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, prepare professional presentations and briefing materials, support events and meetings, and help ensure external-facing activities are executed with accuracy and professionalism. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, a natural curiosity, and the ability to independently seek out information, connect the dots, and keep initiatives moving forward.

What You'll Do

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the External Relations team

  • Coordinate calendars, meetings, workshops, stakeholder sessions, and engagement activities

  • Prepare and format professional presentations, briefing packages, correspondence, and meeting materials for internal and external audiences

  • Gather, organize, and synthesize information from multiple stakeholders to support presentations, reports, and engagement activities

  • Support planning and logistics for community meetings, Indigenous engagement sessions, government meetings, and special events

  • Track stakeholder interactions and maintain accurate records, databases, and engagement documentation

  • Assist with document management, filing systems, expense administration, invoice processing, and procurement activities

  • Monitor and manage team communications, ensuring timely follow-up and coordination of action items

  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to gather information, align messaging, and support business priorities

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and ways of working while contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team

What You Bring

  • 5-10 years of related experience in an administrative, coordination, communications, stakeholder relations, corporate affairs, or project support role

  • Experience within the energy industry is preferred

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare polished presentations, briefing materials, and written communications

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines

  • A proactive, self-directed approach and the confidence to work independently with limited direction

  • Strong research and information-gathering skills, with the ability to seek out answers, identify key details, and connect information from multiple sources

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization

  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Why Join This Role

  • Bring structure to complexity by helping coordinate meaningful external engagement activities while working across a variety of priorities and stakeholders

  • Use your curiosity and initiative every day as you gather information, connect the dots, and create high-quality materials that support business decisions and stakeholder relationships

  • Be a trusted partner to the team by playing a key role in keeping initiatives moving forward, improving processes, and ensuring external-facing activities are delivered professionally and effectively
