SALARY: Begins at $39,648 with comprehensive benefits package
Sampson County is seeking a detail-oriented GIS Technician to maintain and update the County's property mapping and parcel data. This position works closely with the GIS Coordinator and is primarily responsible for ensuring that parcel maps accurately reflect recorded property changes.
Please note: This is a full-time, on-site position located at our GIS office. Remote work is not available for this role.
What You'll Do:
- Maintain and update parcel boundaries based on deeds, plats, subdivisions, splits, recombinations, and other land records.
- Research and interpret deeds, plats, surveys, and property records.
- Create and edit parcel data using ArcGIS Pro and related GIS software.
- Review parcel geometry, acreage, PINs, and other attributes for accuracy.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in property mapping and land records.
- Work with the Register of Deeds, Tax Administration, Planning, Addressing, and other County departments.
- Respond to property mapping questions from County staff, surveyors, attorneys, property owners, and the public.
- Assist the GIS Coordinator with other GIS mapping, data, and reporting projects.
- Associate degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with ArcGIS Pro and GIS data editing.
- Experience with parcel mapping, property records, land records, surveying, or cadastral GIS preferred.
- Familiarity with deeds, plats, parcel identification numbers, and property descriptions preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to research and resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to work independently and maintain accurate records.
