Description
This position is responsible for the overall commercial and financial results of the DER Business Unit within the Jet Parts Engineering (JPE) group of companies. The DER Business Unit develops and delivers FAA-approved engineered repair solutions (DER repairs) to the commercial aftermarket, serving airlines and MRO customers worldwide. The Business Unit Manager (BUM) owns Profit and Loss accountability for the DER business unit and is charged with driving consistent year-over-year growth by increasing and supporting new development throughput while exceeding customer expectations. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, this is a commercial and development-focused role where most of the time will be spent coordinating with the Sales and Engineering teams to build the repair development pipeline, accelerate the introduction of new repair solutions, and convert engineering throughput into profitable new business. This position is in-office at one of the DER company facilities in Euless, TX or Hauppauge, NY and is a key development position with a clear path to promotion into senior management.
Requirements
- Own Profit and Loss accountability for the DER Business Unit; achieve bookings, sales, and EBITDA objectives.
- Drive consistent value creation through profitable new business, value-based pricing, and productivity.
- Execute a Business Unit strategy that delivers year-over-year growth in revenue and profitability by expanding the DER repair portfolio.
- Increase product development throughput by building, prioritizing, and managing a robust pipeline of new DER repair opportunities from concept to market.
- Identify, prioritize, and secure profitable new business, including new repair development on both existing and new platforms.
- Lead contract review and negotiation, including long-term agreements, pricing agreements, and purchasing agreements.
- Conduct regular pricing analysis to ensure market-based pricing across the portfolio.
- Prepare and execute a comprehensive Annual Operating Plan for the Business Unit.
- Develop and present Quarterly Business Reviews for executive management.
- Supports the sales team in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships to drive long-term growth and customer satisfaction.
- Leverage business intelligence and analytics to track the development pipeline, throughput, product introduction, and customer performance to inform decisions.
- Foster a performance-oriented, entrepreneurial ownership culture with high accountability and a bias for action.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Minimum of 5 years of total experience, including roles of increasing responsibility.
- Experience in aviation, aerospace, or a highly engineered manufacturing environment strongly preferred; exposure to engineering development, MRO, or repair design a plus.
- Familiarity with FAA/EASA repair approval processes, DER repairs, or engineering development workflows a plus.
- Demonstrated P&L, pricing, or commercial ownership experience preferred.
- Results-oriented self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial ownership culture, with a strong sense of urgency and bias for action.
- Data-driven with strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Exhibits leadership abilities including high accountability and influence; leads by example while exhibiting a collective sense of purpose.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and comfortable working across CRM and business intelligence systems
- Ability to travel 25% to 40%.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university or college required; technical degree preferred but not required.

Salaried position, commensurate with experience, with performance-based incentive compensation.
