About the roleAs a Layout Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, coordination, and optimization of overall layouts for Offshore HVDC Converter Platforms, contributing to the successful delivery of innovative and sustainable energy infrastructure projects. You will act as the focal point between all engineering disciplines, ensuring that technical, operational, safety, and maintenance requirements are successfully integrated into a coherent and efficient platform design. This role requires a versatile engineering professional with a broad technical background, a solid understanding of offshore projects, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively collaborate across multiple stakeholders and engineering disciplines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develop, maintain, and coordinate:
- General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
- Field Layouts
- Equipment Arrangements (e.g. Tanks and Voids)
- Living Quarter Layouts
- Room Lists and Space Allocation Plans
- Access, Maintenance, and Escape Route Concepts
- Define and optimize platform layouts considering:
- Safety requirements
- Operability and maintainability
- Construction and fabrication aspects
- Installation and transportation requirements
- Offshore accessibility
- Weight and space constraints
- Fire and blast protection requirements
- Coordinate interfaces between multiple engineering disciplines, including:
- HVDC Electrical Systems
- Structural and Steel Design
- HVAC
- Piping and Mechanical Systems
- Fire & Safety Engineering
- Telecom and Control Systems
- Accomodation Design (e.g. Living Quarter)
- Installation and Operations Teams
- Lead interdisciplinary layout reviews and design workshops.
- Identify and resolve technical clashes, interface issues, and space conflicts.
- Ensure alignment between layout concepts and project requirements, industry
- standards, and client specifications.
- Support design development from concept phase through detailed engineering
- and fabrication.
- Present layout concepts, technical solutions, and design recommendations to
- project management, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Offshore Engineering, Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering or a comparable engineering discipline
- Experience in layout engineering and multidisciplinary design coordination.
- Experience within Offshore Projects
- Proven track record of managing technical interfaces across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Fluent in English (negotiation level); good German skills are a plus.
Software Skills
AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, CATIA / 3DEXPERIENCE, AVEVA E3D or comparable
