Part-Time Housekeeper 

A family in Berkeley with young and older children is looking for an experienced, reliable, and highly detail-oriented housekeeper for a long-term position, 24-27 hours per week. 

This is a busy and active household with young children and nannies often present during working hours. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a dynamic environment, communicate effectively with other household staff, take initiative, and remain flexible as the needs and priorities of the household evolve throughout the day.

Responsibilities include: 

• Thorough cleaning of the home, including kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, floors, and common areas 
• Laundry for adults and children: washing, drying, folding, organizing, ironing when needed, and putting clothes away 
• Washing and changing sheets and towels and maintaining household linens 
• General tidying and organization 
• Occasional grocery shopping as needed 
• Proper sorting of recycling, compost, and trash according to Berkeley guidelines 
• Helping us minimize household waste 
• Using low-toxicity, child-safe cleaning products and limiting harsh chemicals and unnecessary fragrances 
• Keeping track of cleaning and laundry supplies and communicating when items need to be replenished 
• Adjusting priorities when needed in a busy family household 

We are looking for someone who: 

• Has significant professional housekeeping experience, ideally in private family homes 
• Is reliable, punctual, organized, discreet, and able to work independently 
• Has excellent attention to detail and high standards for cleanliness 
• Takes initiative rather than requiring detailed instructions for routine tasks 
• Is flexible and comfortable with changing priorities
• Is comfortable working around young children and alongside nannies (this is a housekeeping position, not a childcare position)
• Is knowledgeable about recycling, composting, waste reduction, and environmentally conscious cleaning 
• Can provide strong, recent professional references 
• Is willing to complete a background check 

We are looking for someone who wants a stable, long-term position. 

Location: Berkeley, CA 

Hours: Approximately 24-27 hours/week (negotiable)

Schedule: To be discussed; some flexibility is appreciated 

Pay: $45–$50/hour depending on experience and references, paid through payroll, with paid sick leave in accordance with applicable law 

Start date: As soon as mutually convenient
