Description
Your Leadership.
Our Power.
Unlimited Potential.
Taylor Corporation has big plans for the future, and we need talented leaders to get us there. We power the world's leading brands - and our employees' careers - by unlocking potential everywhere we see it. If you love to lead, are open to new ideas and inspire the best in others, we should talk. We're passionate about our work, we believe there is always a better way, and we're looking for professionals like you.
Your Opportunity: JMD Creative (a division of Taylor Corporation) is seeking an Account Director to lead client relationships and run our account team! The Account Director is the trusted senior partner our clients call first: the person who brings experience, perspective, and calm judgment to complex client situations, and who deepens and grows our existing client partnerships through the quality of our counsel and our work.
JMD is a full-service creative agency specializing in brand strategy, visual identity, packaging design, industrial design, advertising, content creation, merchandising, and production. Founded in 2016 by Jon Dinapoli, JMD partners with emerging and global brands across beauty, fragrance, fashion, and lifestyle. In 2024, JMD was acquired by Taylor Corporation, a global leader in printing, packaging, and marketing solutions, marking the start of JMD's expansion into printing and packaging production.
Internally, the Account Director owns how the account team operates - setting the standard for client service, mentoring and developing team members, and building the practices and processes that allow the agency to deliver a high volume of work at a consistently high standard.
This role is based in NYC with a hybrid work model.
Work Authorization: To be considered for the Taylor opportunities, candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
What You'll Do:
Client Leadership
- Serve as the senior day-to-day owner of client relationships across a portfolio of brands - the primary point of contact, escalation, and counsel for client stakeholders
- Establish and deepen trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders through industry knowledge, responsiveness, and consistent follow-through
- Identify and develop organic growth opportunities within existing client partnerships - expanded scopes, retainers, and new workstreams - in partnership with agency leadership
- Lead client meetings with confidence and active listening: initiate pitch concepts, present work, and summarize results and recommendations
- Manage all aspects of client engagements, providing excellent client service while balancing client, agency, and team needs
Account Team Leadership
- Run the account team day to day - including studio management and project management functions- owning workload planning, staffing across accounts, and prioritization
- Mentor, coach, and develop account team members, raising the bar on client service craft and professional judgment across the team
- Model and instill maturity and professionalism in every client interaction - setting expectations for how the team communicates, prepares, follows through, and carries itself with clients and colleagues
- Guide the team's professional growth: give direct, constructive feedback, coach team members through difficult client situations, and develop the next generation of account leaders
- Foster a culture of accountability and composure under pressure, where the team anticipates client needs rather than reacting to them
- Build and continuously improve the practices, processes, and tools (e.g., Wrike for project workflow) that allow the team to handle high project volume efficiently and enable the agency to grow
- Set the team's daily operating rhythm, including huddles with the creative team to align on project milestones and priorities
- Partner with design and creative teams to provide clear direction, coordinate resources, and ensure internal timelines support external commitments
Commercial & Operational Stewardship
- Initiate and negotiate contracts and scopes of work with clients, protecting agency margin while maintaining strong relationships
- Apply a deep understanding of creative-agency costing structures to scoping, estimating, and account profitability
- Help oversee accounts receivable and payable in partnership with management and internal finance team
- Monitor overall account health - scope, budget, utilization, and profitability - and address issues early and directly
Strategic Direction
- Help outline account strategies and provide a clear sense of direction for each brand, leading projects from conception through final execution
- Produce and oversee timely, accurate weekly client performance recommendations, reporting and analysis, and quarterly results reviews
- Help develop and present agency capabilities, contributing thought leadership that strengthens the agency's positioning with clients
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in a related area of specialty
- 8+ years of experience in client management, account leadership, in a creative or marketing agency setting, including experience managing and developing a team
