Role summary:The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and performing preventive maintenance to optimize system performance. The Technician collaborates with management and team members, leads field activities, and supports operational needs through effective communication and adherence to company standards. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering reliable facility services.

The Facility Services HVAC/Refrigeration team ensures Walmart’s facilities operate efficiently through expert preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety compliance. The team applies specialized skills in HVAC systems, electrical diagnostics, and equipment upkeep to support business priorities. Collaborating closely with management and service providers, they maintain clear communication and uphold integrity. What you'll do:
- Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and control panels, ensuring compliance with building codes.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections to optimize system performance and extend equipment life.
- Maintain refrigeration units such as racks, walk-ins, and reach-ins, adhering to EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
- Lead and mentor field teams on technical procedures and safety standards.
- Coordinate service calls, manage workload, and document refrigerant usage and repairs accurately.
- Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
- Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration and compliance.
- Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
- Experience leading teams and mentoring technicians on technical procedures and safety practices.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and coordinate with customers and service providers.
- Proficient in using digital tools for scheduling, inventory tracking, and reporting.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to operate company vehicles safely and maintain vehicle compliance.

The hourly wage range for this position is $29.00 - $58.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...
Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.
Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
