Sr. Manager, Grants

Overview

The Sr. Manager, Grants is responsible for CommUnityCare's Health Center funding and operating support grants for several service lines. The position requires the Sr. Manager, Grants to balance multiple projects, proposals and deadlines and maintain high awareness of the internal workings of the organization to identify funding opportunities. Responsibilities include managing overall grant efforts, preparing progress reports, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, and educating staff on policies and procedures for grant awards. This position will support a grant administration team including a grants manager, specialists, and coordinator.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health
• Center Program funding, ensuring compliance with all program requirements, including timely scope updates and performance reporting.
• Supports a high-performing grants team responsible for administering over $17 million in federal, state, local, and private funding.
• Supervises, mentors, and develops Grants Management staff, including Grants Manager(s), Specialists, and Coordinator, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
• Serves as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to leadership on grant regulations, compliance requirements, and funding opportunities.
• Sources reports from various departments – including Finance, Project Management, Business Intelligence, and other programs – to ensure timely submission of required information.
• Verifies alignment of grant expenses with the grant budgets and reports, as provided by the Finance team.
• Acts as the primary liaison between the organization and funding agencies, cultivating strong relationships and ensuring effective communication with grantors.
• Contributes to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of grants management policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure full compliance and operational efficiency.
• Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders, community organizations, governmental entities, and external partners to support organizational funding goals.
• Monitors and interprets local, state, and federal regulations impacting grant funding, ensuring organizational awareness and proactive compliance.
• Oversees the effective utilization of grants management systems and tools to track funder engagement, proposals, awards, and reporting requirements, ensuring data integrity and accountability.
• Performs other related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope and responsibilities of a Senior Grants
• Management role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local grant laws, rules, regulations, grant processes and procedures, as well as cost principles and uniform administrative grant requirements. 
• Good analytical and presentation skills 
• Proficient in identifying opportunities and deliver results accordingly 
• High level of skill at building relationships within the organization and outside the organization. 
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Skilled at writing, planning and strategizing. 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to be persuasive; superior writing skills including editing for content, style, and grammar.
• Proficiency in the use of a computer and commonly used software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite. 
• Demonstrated ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimum supervision; to maintain quality control standards; to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. 
• Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions in a clear, concise, and proactive manner, including recognition and resolution of costly errors. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work responsibilities to insure completion of assigned tasks as scheduled.
• Preferred experience with FQHC grant processes and Health Resources and Services Administration(HRSA).

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's Degree (higher degree accepted) in Business Administration , Accounting, Public Policy, Public Health, or a related field

 

Minimum Experience:

• 5 years experience managing cross-functional grants and/or programs for governmental or non- governmental organizations Required
• 2 years Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing a team Required
