Overview
The Electrical Design Engineer provides full-time technical support to CNS Mission Engineering within the Facility Design organization. This role focuses on completing facility and production area design activities necessary to close Configuration Managed Change Requests (CRs) for systems that have been returned to service for more than 90 days. The engineer will ensure that all design updates meet CNS standards, consensus national codes, and requirements for facilities operating in nuclear‑regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review Change Requests (CRs) for Configuration Managed systems that have been Returned to Service (RTS) for more than 90 days and remain open.
- Identify all Affected Documents that require revision to reflect the work performed under each CR.
- Conduct field walkdowns as necessary to verify that the work defined in the CRs has been completed in accordance with design intent.
- Compare existing Affected Documents with completed field work to determine necessary updates.
- Prepare clear and accurate redline markups on Affected Documents to incorporate changes covered by the CRs.
- Provide redlined documents to drafting personnel for incorporation into the Parent Configuration Management document(s).
- Review and verify that updated documents correctly integrate CR information and meet configuration control requirements.
- Develop design output consistent with CNS standards and applicable national consensus codes such as NFPA 70/National Electrical Code, ASME, and other relevant regulations.
- Interface effectively with production, maintenance, engineering, and support organizations to ensure timely and accurate completion of design recovery tasks.
- Support facility and production area activities that expedite closure of design changes and maintain configuration integrity of electrical systems.
Qualifications
- ABET‑accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Ten or more years of relevant professional electrical engineering experience.
- Familiarity with electrical design output requirements and national consensus design standards (NFPA 70/NEC, ASME, etc.).
- Experience working in NRC or DOE regulated environments is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Operations within nuclear‑regulated facilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and production organizations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Q‑clearance.
