Electrical Design Engineer
Silent Aire - Dublin
Who We Are
Silent Aire, part of Johnson Controls, is a global leader in designing and manufacturing mission-critical custom air handlers, liquid cooling systems, and modular data centres for hyperscale cloud and colocation providers. We deliver high-performance solutions that prioritise quality, scalability, innovation, and rapid deployment.
What You Will Do
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved within the electrical design and development of innovative large-scale liquid cooling solutions, CDU projects, and mission-critical HVAC equipment.
You will collaborate with engineering managers, mechanical engineering teams, controls specialists, manufacturing, and project stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant electrical designs that meet customer requirements and industry standards.
You will take ownership of electrical system design activities, from concept development and detailed engineering through manufacturing support and final project documentation. Working closely with our Electrical Panel Manufacturing team, you will develop bespoke electrical panel designs, power distribution systems, and control architectures that support high-performance mission-critical facilities.
Your work will directly contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects, ensuring technical excellence, reliability, and scalability throughout the project lifecycle.
How You Will Do It
Analyse and interpret customer specifications, technical requirements, and project drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards.
Develop detailed electrical designs, power distribution schematics, and single-line diagrams using CAD and electrical design software.
Produce controls schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical/control panel layouts for custom air handling and cooling equipment.
Perform electrical engineering calculations including load analysis, fault current calculations, cable sizing, MCA, overcurrent protection, and voltage drop assessments.
Design and specify electrical power and control systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
Select, evaluate, and specify electrical components and equipment, preparing accurate bills of materials and technical documentation.
Review and approve design deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
Prepare comprehensive project submittal packages including drawings, calculations, data sheets, specifications, and supporting documentation.
Collaborate with mechanical, controls, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure seamless multidisciplinary integration.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
Support manufacturing, commissioning, field service, procurement, and customer teams with technical expertise throughout project execution.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support business development and bid activities through technical input, design reviews, and cost estimation.
What We Look For
