POSITION PURPOSE
The intern will support the host company's healthcare staffing team across recruitment coordination, onboarding, employee records, compliance checks, roster and placement administration, and general office duties.
Working under professional supervision, the intern will gain practical experience in the processes used to attract, assess, onboard, place and support nurses and carers within a regulated healthcare environment.
POTENTIAL LEARNING AREAS AND DUTIES
- Enter, update and organise candidate and employee information in the HR database while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Review applications and resumes against role requirements and refer suitable candidates to the recruitment team.
- Assist with interview scheduling, candidate communication and preliminary screening activities.
- Check and maintain registrations, police checks, vaccination records, work rights, training certificates and other compliance documents.
- Support staff availability, shift requests, placement details and roster updates.
- Organise and maintain candidate, employee and placement records in accordance with privacy requirements.
- Respond to routine enquiries from healthcare facilities, nurses and carers and direct matters to the appropriate team member.
- Prepare onboarding documentation, conduct approved reference checks and provide general HR, recruitment and administrative support.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
Experience or exposure in the following areas will be advantageous:
- Human Resources, Business Administration or Management studies
- Recruitment, customer service, office administration or data entry
- Healthcare, nursing, aged care, disability or staffing environments
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- HR databases, applicant tracking systems or CRM platforms
- Candidate screening, interview scheduling and reference checks
- Rostering, placement records and professional correspondence
- University projects involving teamwork, communication or records management
