Summary of Job Duties:
The Quality Management Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting quality improvement, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives across the organization. This role collects, analyzes, and reports quality data; facilitates accreditation and regulatory readiness; investigates quality concerns; and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to improve clinical outcomes, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, ADN, or Diploma RN Degree field PLUS three (3) years’ experience in quality improvement, performance improvement or program management and project management.
- Current AR RN License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing or a healthcare related field
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Certification
Special knowledge, abilities and skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and experience related to performance improvement and change management
- Knowledge and experience related to accreditation and regulatory compliance
- Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience with reviewing charts in an Electronic Health Record

Job Requirements:
- Collaborate and partner with Nursing Leadership and staff to develop and implement the annual Quality Plan.
- Assure that the plan is aligned with Vision 2029 and UAMS annual Institutional Improvement Priorities.
- Identify appropriate and meaningful area and unit-specific priorities, improvement opportunities, and quality indicators.
- Collaborate and partner with Leaders and staff to organize the work to achieve annual quality objectives.
- Develop project charters and A3s, convene and facilitate tactical teams, design and implement project tracking of process and outcome measures, implement improvement interventions, and provide project management and change management facilitation and coaching.
- Collaborate and partner with Nursing Leadership to submit quarterly data and updates and compile annual plan evaluations.
- Participate in the UAMS institutional plan evaluation as appropriate and as requested.
- Utilize the tools and methods of the UAMS Improvement System.
- Provide formal and just-in-time training and coaching on the tools, method, framework, and approach.
- Work with Data Analysts and IT to assure each Service Line has access to timely and accurate performance data to support their quality plan and improvement work.
- Prepare presentations and reports, as requested and as required, for various oversite and governance committees as related to Nursing quality work.
- Participate on teams, committees, and tasks forces as appropriate to the role within Nursing.
- Clinical Data Review and Analysis
- Conduct focused data analysis and reviews to determine causal factors and gaps related to key performance targets and measures or when there is special cause variation.
- Utilize appropriate visual graphical tools and data displays (including control charts) to provide interpretation ease and meaningful conclusions.
- Utilize more advanced statistical tools and analysis when appropriate.
- Compile data and narrative reports that summarizing findings, determine causes, and make recommendations for improvement. Compile reports and presentations that summarize improvement projects and successful improvement activities.
- Design and implement chart audit and quality monitoring tools as necessary.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in regard to elements needed to meet quality reporting measures and metrics requirements.
- Quality Management Knowledge and Expertise
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant quality standards, rules, regulations, and requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of quality and safety indicators as they pertain to assigned Service Line(s).
- Maintains current knowledge of benchmarking frameworks and methodologies including CMS, Vizient, US News and World Report, and Magnet.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant databases and registries including the Vizient Clinical Data Base, NHSN, NDNQI, NSQIP, VON, and GWT.
- Regulatory and Accreditation
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements.
- Assists with regulatory visits by providing support with data, policies, documentation, physical presence and participation
- Perform other duties as needed.
