Overview

Altorfer is seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O Platform & Solution Architect to provide technical leadership, architecture, governance, and operational expertise for our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and NAXT ecosystem.

This role operates as a highly collaborative technical leader within Altorfer’s broader Dynamics 365 team. Success requires working closely with functional leads, business stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners to collectively design, implement, support, and continuously improve the Dynamics platform. The position provides technical leadership and architectural guidance while ensuring solutions reflect both business needs and enterprise technology standards.

The role will have significant touchpoints across the organization, partnering with business teams and IT disciplines including application development, Infrastructure, Security, Data & Analytics, and Microsoft Power Platform, as well as strategic technology partners. Business process decisions remain with the appropriate business and functional teams, with this role serving as a trusted technical partner throughout the solution lifecycle.

Location & Travel: This position is ideally based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where proximity to key team members and business partners supports the highly collaborative nature of the role. Altorfer is also open to highly qualified candidates located within our operating territory of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, or Missouri.

For team collaboration, project work, and relationship building, candidates based outside Cedar Rapids should anticipate spending approximately one week per month in Cedar Rapids, with the actual schedule adjusted based on project needs, business priorities, weather, and other travel considerations. Additional travel to Altorfer locations may be required based on business and project needs.

 

 

Basic Duties

 

 

• Provide collaborative technical leadership for Altorfer’s Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and NAXT platforms, helping establish architecture, technical standards, and long-term platform direction.

• Partner with business and functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into secure, scalable, supportable technical solutions.

• Facilitate solution design across Dynamics 365 F&O, NAXT, Dataverse, Power Platform, Azure, and connected enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with technical and functional teams on development, test, UAT, training, and production environment strategy, including provisioning, refreshes, deployments, upgrades, and validation.

• Coordinate Dynamics 365, NAXT, ISV, and Microsoft platform releases with affected teams, including technical validation, regression testing, deployment readiness, and recovery planning.
• Provide architectural guidance for integrations involving technologies such as Dual-write, Dataverse, APIs, Azure integration services, BYOD, ETL, Caterpillar systems, AGCO, CLAAS, Lasernet, and other enterprise platforms.
• Partner with Security and Infrastructure teams on service accounts, application registrations, integration identities, access design, authentication, and appropriate least-privilege practices.
• Work across application, infrastructure, data, and support teams to establish monitoring, alerting, operational-health visibility, and escalation processes for critical platform components and integrations.
• Lead and participate in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex issues that span Dynamics, NAXT, Power Platform, Azure, integrations, data, and connected systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency through automation, regression testing, repeatable deployments, and automated validation.
• Maintain and promote technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, support runbooks, and technical standards.
• Use Azure DevOps and established Altorfer processes to coordinate technical work, dependencies, architectural decisions, and technical debt.
• Collaborate closely with Dynamics 365 CE resources where F&O, CE, Dataverse, Dual-write, Power Platform, security, integrations, and release activities intersect.
• Work collaboratively with Microsoft, XAPT, Caterpillar, ISVs, and other technology partners while promoting effective knowledge transfer to internal Altorfer resources.
• Cross-train and mentor team members, share technical knowledge, and help reduce dependencies on individual subject-matter experts.
• Stay informed on evolving Microsoft Dynamics 365, NAXT, Power Platform, Azure, automation, and integration capabilities and help the team evaluate opportunities that provide value to Altorfer.

 

Qualifications

 

 

• Strong experience implementing, supporting, or architecting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations in an enterprise environment.
• Strong understanding of Dynamics 365 architecture, configuration, security, environments, and application lifecycle management.
• Experience with Microsoft Dataverse and integrations between Dynamics 365 applications.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Experience designing, supporting, or troubleshooting enterprise integrations, APIs, and data flows.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure technologies used within enterprise application architectures.
• Understanding of enterprise identity concepts including service accounts, application registrations, authentication, authorization, and least-privilege access.
• Experience with release management, testing, change management, deployment, and production support processes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills.
• Ability to translate business requirements into sustainable technical designs while considering security, integration, operational support, and long-term maintainability.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work across business, functional, and technical teams.
• Ability to provide technical leadership through expertise, collaboration, communication, and influence.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong technical documentation and knowledge-sharing skills.
• Commitment to teamwork, cross-training, and building shared organizational knowledge.

 

Preferred Experience

• Experience with NAXT or another Dynamics 365-based dealer management solution.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 Dual-write.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with automated or regression-testing frameworks.
• Experience with Azure integration technologies and enterprise API patterns.
• Experience developing monitoring and operational-health solutions.
• Experience supporting multiple Dynamics environments across development, testing, UAT, training, and production.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, or Azure certifications are desirable.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

 

Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. This includes no more than two minor violations within the past three years and no major violations within the past five years. A Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on the final candidate. This requirement is retained from the current Altorfer job description.

This position will primarily work in an office environment. The employee may, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for extended periods and intermittently answer telephone calls and use a keyboard or other written means of communication.

The employee must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Some travel is required.
