As Colorado’s premier designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority-Serving Institution (MSI), Adams State University invites candidates to empower first-generation learners and underserved scholars including those in our innovative Prison Education Program. In this role, the Financial Aid Advisor joins our Enrollment Management Division to streamline student processes so scholars can focus on their academic and personal success.
What You Will Do
As a dedicated Financial Aid Advisor, your work will drive student achievement across three key areas:
- Student Empowerment & Counseling: Each Financial Aid Advisor counsels students and families on FAFSA completion, eligibility, financial aid packaging, scholarship applications, student budgets, and debt management.
- Data Management & Audit Readiness: Ensure rigorous data accuracy and document integrity by seamlessly processing high volumes of physical paperwork into secure digital systems, completing FAFSA verification, and generating program reports.
- Prison Education Program Leadership: The Financial Aid Advisor prioritizes work supporting the Prison Education Program and Revised Second Chance Pell program activities, including in-person outreach to correctional facilities.
- Outreach & Systems Operations: Every Financial Aid Advisor utilizes federal systems (NSLDS, COD, FPP) to process student aid accurately while facilitating orientation labs, FAFSA workshops, and recruitment presentations.
What You Bring
Minimum Qualifications for the Financial Aid Advisor:
- Education: Associates Degree or equivalent college credit
- Experience: 2 Years of prior relevant work experience
- Service & Collaboration: Delivers high-quality customer care in difficult circumstances while building strong, cooperative relationships across all university levels.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google applications, and databases, with proven adaptability in digital environments.
- Mobility & Flexibility: Able to travel for workshops, conferences, and correctional facility visits, with flexibility for additional peak-period time commitment.
