This position is responsible for supporting the Federal Workstudy and Kansas Career Workstudy programs, various federal and state grant programs, and other financial aid processes. The employee in this position reports to the Director of Financial Assistance. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and accurate with the ability to work within a highly technical PC and mainframe based computing environment. They will also exhibit strong critical thinking, written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated and able to motivate others. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a team-oriented environment. This position is an on-campus position located on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or four years of professional experience in lieu of degree.
- One year of professional experience in a student affairs or student personnel setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or six years professional experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience working with financial aid
- Supervisory experience
- Experience working in a university setting
- Knowledge FERPA or other federal, state, and university regulations
- Experience working with Workday
Appointment Date: The start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and successful completion of a background check.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the Federal Workstudy (FWS) Program, including determining student eligibility, managing the waitlist, and monitoring workstudy earnings for federal program compliance.
- Manage the Kansas Career Workstudy (KCWS) Program, including determining student eligibility, monitoring earnings, and completing yearly Kansas Board of Regents report.
- Assist with Pell Grant processing, including monitoring recalculations, lifetime limits, and reconciliation.
- Coordinate the processing of TEACH Grants, including eligibility determination and exit counseling.
- Process consortium agreements, including communicating with students and schools and adjusting awards.
- Assist with the Satisfactory Academic Progress processes.
- Communicate with students and families regarding various financial aid and student employment processes.
- Serve as a financial aid eligibility counselor for a portion of the alphabet as assigned by the Director.
- Supervise, directly or indirectly, student employees within the Office of Financial Assistance.
- Assist with the communication plan for the Office of Financial Assistance in the creation of Workday student engagement plans and messages, print publications, and website updates.
- Advise student and families on financial aid processes, especially FWS eligibility.
- Present to student groups/parents at university events, Financial Aid Nights, and other events as assigned by the Director, including some nights and weekends.
- Perform other office management functions as needed or assigned by the Director.
