SUMMARY
Coordinates the publicity and marketing for all Department programs, facilities, and projects
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Coordinates the publicity and marketing for all Department programs, facilities, and projects
Develops and monitors annual operating budget for assigned section
Develops specifications and standards for marketing initiatives and monitors for compliance.
Actively pursues resources development opportunities for the Department
Strategically evaluates the effectiveness of marketing initiatives to ensure quality
Develops promotional materials for all Department programs and services
Coordinates administration of policies and procedures to ensure compliance for assigned section
Recommends revisions and additions to policies and procedures when necessary
Assesses trends and influences and understands their impact on the Department
Responds orally and in writing to inquiries to answer questions or resolve complaints
Evaluates and coordinates supply and equipment needs and makes purchases after obtaining bids
Coordinates the preparation and administration of marketing contracts and agreements
Serves on advisory boards for numerous professional and community organizations
Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises 1-5 seasonal and temporary employees and volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in marketing, journalism or related field; two to five years related experience and/or training in marketing, resource development, recreation programming; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be proficient in desktop publishing with In Design software and word processing.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals, reports, and documents. Ability to respond to inquiries orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and present news releases. Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
