Summary
The Plumbing and Electrical Counter Sales Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service through friendly interactions, product knowledge, and effective support of plumbing and electrical product sales. Answers questions, provides information as needed. Builds and maintain strong customer relations; generate sales through excellent customer service, add-on, and up selling. Performs all branch functions where needed or directed by manager. Performs all job responsibilities in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist walk-in customers promptly with plumbing and electrical product selection and purchases.
- Answer customer questions regarding electrical and plumbing products.
- Provide product information and recommendations based on customer needs.
- Prepare quotes, process sales orders, and enter transactions into SAP software system.
- Answer incoming phone calls and emails to respond to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and order status.
- Identify products based on customer descriptions, applications, or part numbers.
- Work with delivery personnel to coordinate customer deliveries.
- Coordinate with warehouse staff, inside sales employees, and the branch manager to fulfill customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Handle confidential customer information.
- Release customer order tickets in SAP software.
- Adapt priorities and responsibilities throughout the day in response to changing demands.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Customer service attitude and friendly demeanor.
- Knowledge of electrical and/or plumbing products is strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of measurements and common units used in plumbing and electrical work.
- Ability to read product descriptions, part numbers, and basic technical information.
- Effective time management and organization skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to exude professionalism, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when dealing with customers, employees, internal associates at all levels.
- Microsoft Outlook proficiency.
- Understanding of sales and order-entry processes.
- Ability to swiftly change tasks as needed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand, sit, walk; use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach or carry.
- Occasionally required climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally required to maneuver up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to safely tolerate heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
- Regularly required to talk and hear; read and identify numbers
- Regularly required to apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks.
- Required to be able to safely operate a forklift, pallet jack and/or wire-cutting machine.
