Description
Under general supervision is responsible for determining that construction plans comply with applicable codes,and issues permits, and/or is responsible for reviewing and inspecting residential, commercial and industrialbuilding construction and alterations for compliance with all City codes and ordinances. Reports to theDevelopment Services DirectorDescription: Inspects residential and commercial buildings under construction or rehabilitation for compliance with all currentbuilding codes; reviews Florida energy code forms for compliance with State energy code. Examines residential blueprints and plans for compliance with various State construction codes and City codes,and processing permits; calculates and determines fees, and issues permits; assists in the performance of building,plumbing, mechanical, and electrical inspections. Reviews building permit applications and submitted plans for new or altered building conformance with thevarious building codes.Reviews completed building permit applications for accuracy; notarizes building permit applications Logs and calls in all power releases to Florida Power & Light as required Reviews and inspects construction components in accordance with state licensure to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances Performs other duties as assigned Foster positive employee relations and employee moral on a City-wide basisMay be required to return to work to assist with emergency management preparation, response and/or recoveryactivities Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma requiredExperience in construction or inspectionState of Florida Division of Professions, Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board: Standard License as a 1 & 2 Family Dwelling Inspector and at least one additional license as: Building, Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing required. Ability to obtain additional licenses within two (2) years of hire. (May be extended at the Director’s recommendation)Valid Florida driver’s license requiredAny equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities that allows the applicant to achieve state licensure in these categories for either a provisional or standard license
