The Hartford is seeking a highly motivated IT Portfolio Analyst to support cybersecurity portfolio management, day-to-day department financial management, governance, reporting, workforce coordination, and business operations within the cybersecurity organization. Consistent with portfolio analyst roles across CIO teams, this position will manage demand intake, portfolio health tracking, initiative reporting, governance routines, executive materials, financial outlook support, vendor spend reporting, workforce views, and follow-through on key decisions and actions.

Aligned to the cybersecurity portfolio, this role will strengthen execution and financial discipline across key priorities by helping structure complex work efforts, maintain integrated portfolio and financial views, surface risks and dependencies, and ensure leadership has clear, timely insight into roadmap progress, resource needs, funding needs, and decision points.

*This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management, Investment Tracking & Vendor Spend

  • Support day-to-day department financial management, including budget tracking, forecast input, spend reviews, investment planning, outlook preparation, and coordination with IT Finance partners.
  • Track run and investment spend across the cybersecurity portfolio, including planned commitments, actuals, forecast changes, risks, offsets, and emerging funding needs.
  • Review fixed asset activity, prepaid software, amortization schedules, renewals, and related financial views to help maintain accurate budget baselines and expense projections.
  • Partner closely with IT Finance to support outlook cycles, budget reviews, forecast updates, variance analysis, funding alignment, and financial governance routines.
  • Prepare for outlook periods by consolidating financial inputs, validating assumptions, reviewing forecast movements, and identifying risks, opportunities, and decisions needed for finance discussions.
  • Perform financial analysis to support outlook operations, including trend analysis, run-rate assessment, commitment tracking, investment timing, expense categorization, and explanation of material changes.
  • Capture, organize, and report investment needs for cybersecurity capabilities, vendor renewals, labor requirements, infrastructure priorities, and emerging risk-driven initiatives.
  • Build and maintain leadership-ready reports on vendor spend, contract timing, renewal exposure, funding source, run-rate trends, and portfolio trade-offs.
  • Connect demand, funding, workforce capacity, vendor commitments, and delivery priorities into clear financial and portfolio views for cybersecurity leadership.

Portfolio Operations, Demand & Governance

  • Support demand intake, prioritization, routing, and tracking of new work efforts from intake through disposition or execution.
  • Maintain portfolio health views, including initiative status, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and action items.
  • Coordinate governance cadences, leadership meetings, portfolio reviews, agendas, decision logs, and follow-up actions.

Cybersecurity Portfolio Alignment

  • Track cybersecurity roadmap updates, priorities, milestones, and key work efforts in support of portfolio leadership.
  • Help organize cyber initiatives by priority, funding, capacity, dependency, risk reduction objective, and expected outcome.
  • Provide project management support for selected cybersecurity initiatives by tracking plans, owners, risks, dependencies, decisions, and action items.
  • Prepare roadmap updates, leadership materials, and portfolio summaries that help the CISO and security leaders maintain visibility and make informed decisions.

Risk, Regulatory & Governance Support

  • Coordinate tracking and reporting for regulatory commitments, audits, security assessments, remediation activities, and related actions.
  • Support governance forums that provide visibility into cybersecurity risk, compliance, program maturity, and key commitments.

Metrics, Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop executive dashboards, scorecards, portfolio metrics, cyber metrics, and performance reports.
  • Analyze portfolio, cybersecurity, workforce, operational, and financial data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reporting for executive leadership, governance committees, portfolio reviews, and other stakeholders.

Business Operations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage meeting preparation, materials, notes, follow-ups, and action tracking for leadership routines and portfolio forums.
  • Build effective relationships across cybersecurity, technology, finance, risk, compliance, audit, procurement, and business teams.
  • Promote accountability, transparency, execution discipline, and follow-through across cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-2 years’ experience in technology, cybersecurity, risk management, portfolio management, consulting, IT finance, financial operations, or business operations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in  MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and ability to work independently.
  • Familiarity with Agile, project management, or portfolio management practices.
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to cyber risk, regulatory compliance, audits, security assessments, technology transformation, or large-scale initiative execution.
