How you’ll make an impact
The Log Packing Operator is responsible for handling, stacking, and packaging steel sheets according to client specifications.
Hourly rate: $23.64 plus shift premium
Please note this role is a contract role to start and is on a continental rotating shift (11-12 hour shifts rotating between days and nights).
Job Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently stack sheets of steel into logs for packaging
- Manually align and organize metal sheets to ensure proper stacking according to client specifications
- Secure bundles using appropriate banding materials as required
- Label and tag packaged products per client specifications and internal procedures
- Perform quality checks to ensure the correct type, size, and quantity of steel sheets are packed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the packing area
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times, including proper use of PPE
- Operate forklifts or pallet jacks (if certified) to transport materials
- Communicate with Team Lead and/or Shift Manager to report issues, delays, or quality concerns
- Complete relevant documentation or checklists accurately and in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
- Quality Knowledge Requirements
- Follow Safe Work Standards and Job Instructions
- Follow 200 Level Manuals as designated (calibration, document control, material substitution)
- Quality Plan
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED/CAEC) required
- Technical or vocational training preferred
- 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Prior experience operating machinery or equipment preferred
- Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
- Familiarity with production equipment and safety standards
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Basic math and measurement skills (e.g., using calipers, micrometers, or rulers).
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Organized and able to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills
