Presbyterian Medical Group (PMG) seeks a transformational ambulatory healthcare leader to serve as its next Director of Practice Operations. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for operational, financial, service, and people performance across a portfolio of physician and advanced practice provider clinics.As healthcare continues to evolve toward value-based care, consumerism, digital engagement, and integrated care delivery models, PMG is investing in operational leaders who can move beyond traditional practice management and serve as strategic business partners to physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical leaders.
The Director will lead the execution of ambulatory strategies designed to improve access, provider productivity, patient experience, workforce engagement, quality outcomes, and financial performance. This leader will work closely with physician leaders, practice managers, operational executives, and support service departments to create high-performing outpatient operations that deliver exceptional care and sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative healthcare operator who combines strong business acumen, physician partnership skills, operational discipline, and a passion for improving both patient and provider experiences.
Job Description:
Operational Leadership & Performance Management
Provide leadership and oversight for assigned ambulatory practices and service lines.
Establish operational strategies that align with organizational priorities and growth objectives.
Drive performance across key operational metrics including access, provider utilization, productivity, patient throughput, and service levels.
Develop operational action plans that improve efficiency, capacity, and patient outcomes.
Create accountability structures that support performance excellence across all sites.
Physician & Provider Partnership
Serve as a strategic business partner to physicians, advanced practice providers, and medical leadership.
Collaborate with clinical leaders to optimize provider productivity, panel management, scheduling templates, and access strategies.
Support physician engagement, provider satisfaction, and workforce retention efforts.
Facilitate alignment between operational priorities and clinical goals.
Foster a collaborative, physician-friendly culture focused on delivering exceptional care.
Financial Stewardship
Lead development and execution of annual operating plans and budgets.
Manage financial performance across assigned practices, including revenue, expenses, productivity, and operating margin.
Monitor key financial indicators and implement strategies that improve fiscal performance.
Identify opportunities for growth, operational efficiency, and resource optimization.
Support business planning and evaluation of new services, programs, and growth opportunities.
Access, Growth & Consumer Experience
Lead initiatives that improve patient access, scheduling efficiency, and capacity management.
Develop strategies that enhance patient acquisition, retention, and loyalty.
Improve consumer experience through service excellence and operational innovation.
Monitor patient satisfaction metrics and implement improvements that enhance care delivery.
Partner with marketing and business development teams to support growth initiatives.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Excellence
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across ambulatory operations.
Utilize data and performance metrics to improve quality outcomes and operational effectiveness.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Partner with quality and clinical teams to monitor performance against organizational goals.
Workforce Leadership & Culture
Lead, coach, and develop practice managers and operational leaders.
Build high-performing teams focused on accountability, engagement, and service excellence.
Support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
Promote a culture aligned with Presbyterian values and leadership expectations.
Implement strategies that improve employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.
Strategic Planning & Transformation
Lead strategic and tactical planning initiatives for assigned practices.
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, leverage technology, and enhance operational performance.
Drive change management efforts related to new programs, services, and organizational initiatives.
Partner with enterprise leaders to implement ambulatory transformation strategies.
Evaluate emerging healthcare trends and recommend innovative approaches to care delivery.
Data Analytics & Performance Improvement
Utilize operational, clinical, financial, and patient experience data to drive decision-making.
Develop performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms for leaders and providers.
Monitor KPIs and establish action plans to address performance gaps.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data-driven methodologies.
Benchmark performance against industry standards and best practices.
Success Measures
Within the first 12–24 months, the Director will be expected to:

Additional Job Description:
Education
Required
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
Preferred
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), Public Health, or related discipline.
Experience
Required
7–10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
Minimum of 5 years leading ambulatory, physician practice, medical group, or outpatient operations.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple practices, service lines, or operational departments.
Experience leading operational, financial, workforce, and patient experience improvement initiatives.
Strong understanding of ambulatory operations, practice management, access management, and provider productivity.
