The Regional Sales Manager leads a high-performing team to drive growth across the region, with a strong focus on strategic execution, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is responsible for developing and executing business plans, cultivating relationships with key healthcare professionals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a results-oriented, patient-centric culture.
This is a senior-level commercial leadership position within the pharmaceutical (biotech) industry, ideally suited for someone who thrives on high-level scientific exchange and finds purpose in bringing first-in-class treatments to patients—positively impacting their lives and those of their families. The Regional Sales Manager will lead a team of dedicated Key Account Managers within the assigned region. The role offers a high degree of autonomy and visibility, along with a unique opportunity to shape how Cytokinetics is positioned in Italy.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team of Key Account Managers.
Conduct regular field visits and coaching sessions to ensure effective sales execution.
Set and monitor individual and team goals, including incentive plans and development objectives.
Foster a collaborative, patient-centric, and results-driven culture.
Ensure appropriate training, learning, and personal development opportunities for all team members.
Establish and maintain a positive and motivating working environment.

Sales & Market Strategy Execution
Develop and execute a strategic regional business plan aligned with national objectives, in close collaboration with the Italian Leadership Team.
Define and implement segmentation and targeting strategies for key local prescriber groups.
Co-establish sales objectives with country leadership by forecasting and setting annual quotas, projecting sales volumes and market shares for existing and new products.
Monitor regional performance against targets, analyze gaps, and adjust strategies proactively.
Implement and oversee the rollout of CRM systems and tools to support sales effectiveness.
Market & Customer Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), and key accounts.
Educate providers on the clinical benefits and appropriate use of the company’s therapies.
Collaborate cross-functionally with medical, market access, and marketing teams to ensure aligned customer engagement and product support.
Develop and implement account action plans to drive in-label usage of approved products within the appropriate patient populations.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
Ensure full adherence to regulatory, legal, and compliance standards.
Promote ethical sales practices and maintain accurate documentation.
Monitor competitive trends and market dynamics, adjusting strategies as needed.
Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning responsibilities and following up on execution and results.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Life Sciences or an MBA is optional.
Industry Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry in field-based sales roles.
At least 2 years of proven success in sales leadership, ideally in regional management within agile team environments.
Demonstrated experience in product launches and driving regional sales growth.
Experience in specialized cardiology indications would be beneficial, but not a requirement.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 50%) across large territories; this is a 100% field-based role.

Pay Range:
The salary range for this role is €100,000-€125,000 gross annually. Final compensation will depend on skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.In line with Italy equal pay regulations, we apply objective, gender-neutral criteria to determine compensation.
