Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Construction Superintendent to oversee on-site construction operations and manage commercial projects from start to completion. This role is responsible for leading field teams, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining project schedules, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering projects with the highest standards of quality.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing commercial construction projects, particularly within healthcare, K-12, higher education, or similar institutional environments. This position requires strong field leadership, communication skills, and the ability to successfully manage complex construction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Project Execution
- Lead all daily on-site construction activities from project start through completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, site logistics, and daily construction operations.
- Monitor project progress and address challenges proactively.
- Maintain short-interval production schedules and coordinate upcoming activities.
Safety & Quality Management
- Enforce company safety policies, OSHA standards, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project teams and subcontractors.
- Monitor workmanship, inspections, and quality control processes.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and construction standards.
Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, engineers, architects, owners, and clients.
- Conduct project meetings and communicate updates, risks, and solutions effectively.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to field personnel.
Construction Planning & Coordination
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts.
- Support project planning, sequencing, and resource coordination.
- Manage both new construction and renovation projects while adapting to project challenges.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent leading commercial construction projects.
- Proven experience managing commercial construction projects, preferably in:
- Healthcare
- K-12 education
- Higher education
- Institutional construction
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and field teams.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple project priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Construction Manager At Risk (CMAR) project delivery.
- Experience managing complex renovation and new construction projects.
- Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools.
- Strong understanding of commercial building codes and safety regulations.
