The Firmware & Product Test (FPT) team plays a critical role in delivering high-quality enterprise SSD solutions by ensuring firmware functionality, reliability, and compliance. We work across simulation, FPGA, and hardware environments to validate modern storage technologies, build scalable automation, and drive continuous improvement in validation methodologies. The Engineer (E2) on the Firmware & Product Testing (FPT) team supports the validation of enterprise SSD firmware through test development, automation, execution, and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement firmware verification plans for enterprise SSD customer requirements and NVMe features, including SMART, Trim, Get Log Page, and OCP compliance.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using Python and FPT automation frameworks to improve test coverage and regression efficiency.
• Investigate test failures, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and work with engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Analyze test results and communicate quality metrics, risks, and mitigation plans to team members and management.
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement efforts to enhance automation quality, maintainability, and testing effectiveness.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, Generative AI, and intelligent workflows to improve test development, debugging, data analysis, and reporting.
• Collaborate with firmware engineers, data scientists, and AI/ML teams to develop automation solutions for anomaly detection, failure analysis, and validation process improvements.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python programming skills with experience in automation, scripting, and data analysis using libraries such as NumPy and pandas.
• Understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test automation, debugging, and validation methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate technical issues and interpret data-driven results.
• Experience with, or a strong interest in, Artificial Intelligence (AI), including AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, or AI-assisted software development workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NVMe protocols, SSD firmware validation, embedded systems, storage technologies, or hardware testing.
• Familiarity with machine learning tools and techniques such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, anomaly detection, or predictive analytics.
• Knowledge of software development standard methodologies, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and Agile development methodologies.
• Experience building or integrating AI-powered automation solutions using Generative AI, LLMs, Agentic AI frameworks, or AI copilots.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar productivity platforms.

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$81,000.00 - $137,000.00 a year

Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base pay for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
