Automation Engineer

The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining intelligent automation solutions that streamline business processes and improve operational efficiency. Working closely with business and technology teams, the role identifies automation opportunities, delivers scalable and reliable solutions using RPA, low-code/no-code platforms, and emerging technologies like AI for intelligent automation, and ensures adherence to established development standards and best practices. The role may also support production incidents, automation asset sustainment, and maintenance activities as business needs require. In addition, the Automation Engineer contributes to capability development through knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring of junior developers while promoting automation best practices across the team.

Position Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements into effective automated solutions by thoroughly understanding objectives and aligning them with technology capabilities.
• Assist clients in evaluating manual operations to help identify performance improvement opportunities within their day-to-day processes.
• Designs, develops, tests, implements, maintains, and continuously enhances automation and AI solutions to ensure optimal performance and results
• Creates, utilizes, and maintains script libraries to promote reusability and efficiency.
• Implements robust error handling, logging, and exception management in automation solutions
• Conducts performance and regression testing for automation solutions.
• Conducts technical spikes and creates POCs to assess feasibility and validate solution approaches.
• Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and Scrum team members to identify automation opportunities and ensure the timely delivery of requirements.
• Practices Scrum/Agile principles and actively participates in all key Scrum events, including Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews/Demos, and Retrospectives
• Creates and maintains documentation for developed automations (ERL/Confluence) and prepares training materials, processes, and workflows to enable users and support teams to effectively utilize and optimize the automations.
• Responsible for seamless functioning technology and applications for the benefit of internal and external users.
• Monitors and reports persistent issues to enable Technical Product Owner to manage client relationships.
• Resolves issues escalated by supporting analysts, ensuring timely and effective solutions.
• Follows established coding standards, frameworks, and design patterns, while actively contributing to their improvement and best practices.
• Conducts brownbag sessions and knowledge-sharing meetings to transfer expertise, share learnings, and exchange best practices.
• Explores automated testing approaches and leverages AI technologies to enhance efficiency and improve day-to-day operations.
• Innovates and stays current with AI, emerging technologies, tools, and advancements to continuously enhance automation capabilities and deliver forward-thinking solutions.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 3-5 years of experience in RPA Development
• Experience in PowerPlatform
• Experience in Power Automate and GitHub
• Proficiency in leveraging low code/no code platforms (RPA/RDA) and related technologies to design and develop robust automated solutions. (Automation Anywhere, Power Platforms, Microsoft Power Automate, Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Power BI) highly preferred.
• Knowledge of programming and scripting languages to extend and augment platform capabilities.

o   Python, JavaScript, JSON, XML and Web Services

o   MS-SQL Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, Triggers and Functions

o   C#, Visual Basic

• Familiarity with Agile methodology and frameworks.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and its application in delivering high-quality solutions.
• Understands process design and solution design documents within the automation space and demonstrates the ability to create both effectively.
• Proficient in querying and managing data across various databases and storage platforms, including data extraction and transformation.
• Knowledge of SQL, APIs, web services and integration techniques to enable seamless data exchange and system connectivity
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and core programming concepts.
• Strong foundation in process design, workflow orchestration, and exception handling.
• Knowledge of data ingestion, cloud data pipelines, integration services, ETL/ELT workflows, and managing data across hybrid or multi‑cloud environments.
• General knowledge in software testing
• General understanding of Intelligent Automation concepts, AI technologies, and Large Language Models, including their application in improving business processes and operational efficiency.
