What we do at Weir
We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.
Make your impact
You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.
What you’ll do
Supplier Quality Assurance: Lead supplier quality assurance activities including vendor quality audits, supplier development, qualification, and managing supplier quality issues with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Fabrication Quality Management: Conduct hands-on fabrication inspections, dimensional checks, and quality control of fabricated components such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, heat exchangers, and weldments. Ensure compliance with fabrication drawings and quality standards.
Welding Quality Control: Oversee welding inspection and quality control processes, identify weld defects, and ensure adherence to welding procedures and standards such as ASME Sec IX, EN ISO 15614, and ISO 9606. Prepare and maintain weld quality documentation.
Quality Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and review Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Quality Control Procedures, inspection reports, material identification reports, fit-up reports, NDE reports, and test reports (hydrostatic, pneumatic).
Coordination & Compliance: Arrange and coordinate third-party inspections (e.g., TUV, LRQA) for stage and final witness. Ensure supplier audits and evaluations are conducted effectively to support supplier development activities.
Daily Role & Success Metrics: The successful candidate will actively manage supplier and fabrication quality processes daily, ensuring zero defects and compliance with quality standards. Success will be measured by reduction in rework, timely completion of inspections, and effective supplier quality improvements.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to supplier sites and fabrication facilities for audits, inspections, and supplier development activities.
Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
