Description
We are looking to add a Service Writer – Equipment Repair to our growing Summit Truck & Equipment Repair team in Salmo, BC. As the Service Writer – Equipment Repair, you are responsible for coordinating shop repair administration, work orders, and parts support to maximize technician productivity, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver exceptional customer service. This role serves as a key liaison between customers, technicians, the Service Manager, and the parts department, ensuring efficient workflow coordination, timely communication, accurate billing documentation, inventory support, and compliance with company health and safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Open, maintain, and close repair work orders.
- Coordinate repair progress with the Service Manager.
- Communicate any changes to repair schedules or work scope.
- Support the parts department during busy periods by assisting customers at the parts counter.
- Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing inventory.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
- Verify labour, parts, and service documentation for accuracy.
- Monitor work order status and assist with workflow coordination.
- Ensure documentation is complete for billing.
- Support technicians with administrative requirements.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Follow company Health & Safety procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Minimum Grade 12 High School Diploma.
- College certificate or additional courses would be an asset.
- Basic understanding of heavy-duty equipment and mechanical fundamentals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an upbeat and engaging attitude.
- Strong customer relationship skills, including listening and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Solid computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
- Flexibility and openness to change; ability to take on special tasks as needed.
- Results orientation, accountable and conscientious.
- Ability to work independently or within a team.
- Capable of demonstrating quality service and high-volume success.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
POSITION BENEFITS
- Wage is $23-27 per hour, depending on experience
