Your Role & Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and maintain scalable data processing pipelines using Azure Databricks and Apache Spark
- Write efficient, optimized Python (PySpark) and SQL code to support large-scale data processing requirements
- Design, implement, and maintain modern data lake architectures and ETL frameworks
- Optimize performance and scalability for TB-scale data workloads
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and reliability through robust quality management practices
- Leverage Azure data analytics services for data ingestion, storage, processing, and reporting solutions
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, process documentation, and testing artifacts
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and implement data solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance, processing, and data quality issues
- Maintain source code and version control processes using Git
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote data engineering best practices
Skills & Experience You Should Possess
- 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and implementing solutions using Azure Databricks and Apache Spark
- Strong proficiency in Python, particularly PySpark development
- Strong SQL development and query optimization skills
- Demonstrated experience processing and optimizing TB-scale datasets
- Deep understanding of ETL processes, data integration, and data lake architecture
- Experience implementing and supporting data quality management processes
- Experience working with Azure data analytics services
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience using Git for source control and version management
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Experience with Delta Lake architecture and optimization techniques
- Exposure to data warehousing and dimensional modeling concepts
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience working within Agile or Scrum environments
- Microsoft Azure certifications related to Data Engineering or Analytics
- Experience supporting cloud migration or modernization initiatives
Education & Certifications You Need
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineering certifications are highly desirable
- Databricks certifications are beneficial but not required
- Additional cloud or analytics certifications are considered a plus
