Heartline Staffing is recruiting an Associate, Mechanical Engineering Lead for a hybrid opportunity in Houston, Texas. This senior engineering leadership role will lead multidisciplinary design projects with a significant focus on healthcare facilities, including inpatient critical care environments.
This opportunity combines hands-on mechanical engineering leadership, project management, client relationship management, team development, and business development. The Mechanical Engineering Lead will oversee complex HVAC system design while helping deliver coordinated, sustainable building solutions focused on performance, resiliency, energy efficiency, and decarbonization.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Associate, Mechanical Engineering Lead will serve as a Project Manager and Mechanical Lead for multidisciplinary design projects, primarily within the healthcare sector. This individual will coordinate across engineering disciplines and project teams while maintaining responsibility for design quality, commercial metrics, project delivery, and client relationships.
The position also has the potential to lead the Houston mechanical team as part of a broader regional discipline network, including serving as a hiring manager for mid-level staff. The successful candidate will mentor and develop team members while supporting client development, proposals, work-winning initiatives, and repeat business.
ROLE
• Act As Project Manager And Mechanical Lead For Multidisciplinary Design Projects, Primarily Within Healthcare.
• Coordinate Multiple Engineering Disciplines To Deliver Comprehensive And Coordinated Design Deliverables.
• Maintain Responsibility For Project Quality Standards, Commercial Metrics, And Client Relationships.
• Lead The Design Of Mechanical Building Systems Including Complete Airside Systems, Heating And Cooling Hydronic Plant Systems, And Specialty Exhaust Systems.
• Prepare And Oversee Drawings, Specifications, Technical Reports, And Presentation Materials.
• Incorporate Sustainable Design Methods Into Building Projects.
• Communicate With Clients Regarding Project Goals, Delivery, And Financials.
• Build And Maintain Strong Client Relationships Supporting Successful Project Delivery And Repeat Business.
• Coordinate And Represent Multidisciplinary Project Teams With Clients.
• Support Future Work-Winning And Business Development Strategies.
• Oversee The Preparation Of Proposals And Bid Submissions.
• Negotiate Contracts, Terms, And Conditions.
• Assist, Supervise, And Mentor Staff Across A Variety Of Projects, Primarily In Healthcare.
• Provide Timely Feedback And Recognition To Team Members.
• Support The Growth And Career Development Of Junior And Senior Team Members.
• Collaborate With Internal And External Stakeholders And Code Officials To Deliver Integrated Projects Through Construction.
• Participate In Local Professional Associations.

• Bachelor's Degree In Mechanical Engineering Or Architectural Engineering REQUIRED
• Professional Engineering (PE) License In The United States REQUIRED
• 12+ Years Of Professional Experience Designing Building HVAC Systems REQUIRED
• Significant Healthcare Project Experience REQUIRED
• Significant Experience Focused On Inpatient Critical Care Facilities Such As Academic Medical Centers, Specialty Care Centers, Or Community Inpatient Hospitals REQUIRED
• Comprehensive Building HVAC Design Experience Including Airside Systems And Hydronic System Components REQUIRED
• Comprehensive Understanding Of Heating And Cooling Hydronic Plant Systems REQUIRED
• Comprehensive Understanding Of Specialty Exhaust Systems REQUIRED
• Familiarity With Applicable Codes And Standards Including ASHRAE, HIH, LEED Energy Efficiency And Indoor Quality, And NFPA REQUIRED
• Experience Leading Multidisciplinary Projects REQUIRED
• Experience Managing Complex, Large-Scale Client Relationships REQUIRED
• Demonstrated Track Record Of Work Winning And Commercial Foresight REQUIRED
• Proven Experience Building And Managing Successful Client Relationships REQUIRED
