1.00 / 40 / 1st Shift (United States of America)PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Provides support for the day to day operations of the assigned clinic(s). Also assists with the business/financial aspects of the flow of patients from the appointment phone call, through reception, exam, and treatment. Provides assistance and supervision in the areas of clinic nursing and reception.
The RN Clinical Manager is responsible for providing leadership to assigned clinical areas, overseeing daily clinical operations, and working with peers and leadership to develop long-term strategic processes that enhance patient care and nursing operations.
RN CLINIC MANAGER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide vision for clinical and nursing practice in the delivery of safe, efficient and effective patient care.
2. Provides direction to members of the healthcare team, evaluates and enhances the quality and effectiveness of clinical and nursing practice and nursing services.
3. Promotes competencies in the roles and functions of patient care team members promoting functioning to full scope of practice.
4. Demonstrates knowledge and innovation in care delivery systems.
5. Teaches and mentors others to routinely utilize evidence-based data and research. Advocates use of documented best practice.
6. Collaborates with the Chief Clinic Officer to support the vision and strategic plan for nursing and clinical practice in the delivery of safe, efficient, effective patient care.
7. Demonstrates leadership skills and principles, knowledge of the healthcare environment, communication and relationship management, and professionalism. This includes elements of evidence based practice, ethics, influencing behaviors, accountability of self, peers and staff, critical thinking, clinical leadership, quality improvement, strategic management, teamwork, and mentoring.
8. Provides leadership in management of nursing and clinical data, management of documentation of care in the electronic health record, policies and procedures for nursing practice, and a diversity of projects for nursing practice and clinical services. Supports safety surveys, responding and taking action on recommendations.
9. Assures that the clinical perspective is included in organizational decisions. Creates a supportive environment with sufficient resources for nursing research, scholarly inquiry, and the generation of knowledge.
10. Serves as a role model and mentor to others in evidence-based practice and research utilization.
11. Maintain knowledge of current nursing and clinical practice and care delivery systems and functions of patient care team members.
12. Resource Utilization: Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing and clinical services.
13. Professional Practice Environment: Supports nursing and clinical practice in relation to practice standards and guidelines and relevant statues, rules, and regulations.
14. Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rule, and regulations. Supports the nursing profession by contributing to the professional development of peers, staff, and colleagues, and actively participating in teams and committees.
15. Provides visionary thinking on issues that impact the clinics/organization.
- Serves as a change agent, assisting others in understanding the importance, necessity, impact, and process of change.
- Assists in coordinating and ensuring efficient implementation of plan.
GENERAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Directs departmental quality, performance improvement, work standardization and environment of care activities assuring the daily operations run smoothly for patient flow within the clinic. Consults other clinics and departments as appropriate to provide collaboration in patient care and performance improvement activities.
2. Maintains responsibility for equipment and supplies related to assigned areas. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Utilizes Materials Management for economical management of supplies and submits invoices for payment as required.
3. Manages customer satisfaction process to include responding to patient complaints. Serves as liaison between staff and customer to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction.
4. Contributes to the development of programs appropriate to meet the changing needs of the patient population, assuring the provision of adequate services that are relevant and accessible. Works with the Education department to develop and implement annual competencies for nursing staff.
5. Ensures and maintains compliance with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Provider Based Clinic guidelines including completion of the annual RHC evaluations. Completes cost reporting for assigned clinics and ensures and maintains compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety, and Risk Management guidelines.
6. Supervises the professional activities of nursing staff and supportive personnel. Coordinates and directs patient care and ensures patients' needs are met and organizational policy is followed.
7. Schedules, conducts, and completes follow-up for regular daily staffing, staff meetings and clinic site visits. Coordinates and approves staff time off and payroll.
8. Is knowledgeable about all department policies, activities, procedures, and processes, providing input on changes. Available to all personnel for guidance, counseling, and advice as needed.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Cost Awareness: Develops, understands, and manages departmental budget. Ensures that budgetary concerns are communicated to Director as needed.
2. Employee Performance: Identifies performance expectations and ensures that employees understand those expectations and are held accountable in meeting the expectations. Assesses employee performance in a timely manner and works with employees to resolve performance issues. Takes timely and appropriate disciplinary actions. Acknowledges employee accomplishments.
3. Organizational Policies: Communicates and enforces Waverly Health Center policies. Develops policies and procedures essential to the operation of the department in compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Staffing: Creates and maintains departmental job descriptions. Builds a team with diverse skills and strengths by selecting the best candidate for each position. Develops effective staffing patterns to meet departmental needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, and Training
- Associate Degree in Nursing with an active Iowa Nursing License
- Minimum of three years of previous clinic experience preferred.
- Previous management experience preferred.
- Must have demonstrated organizational abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting – Approximately 50% of shift.
- Standing – Approximately 25% of shift
- Walking – Approximately 25% of shift
- Lifting – Not a requirement unless covering for staff, then – Approximately 35 pounds. Must use, and require staff to use, when in hospital and pre-hospital settings, proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices.
- Twisting – Not a requirement.
- Bending – Infrequent.
- Squat/Kneel – Not a requirement.

1. May come in contact with hazardous chemicals or treatment modalities.
