Summary:
The Graduate Research Assistant will support SPA Dean Jacknowitz and operations by conducting targeted research and identifying data that can inform departmental planning and benchmarking. The student will work approximately 5 - 7 hours per week and compile research findings into organized Excel and/or Word documents.
Essential Functions:
Conduct research on peer institutions and academic programs.
Research and compile comparative information for selected peer institutions.
Research how other public policy schools structure and related student services.
Identify, collect, and organize data and institutional information relevant to SPA operations.
Compile research findings into clear, organized Excel spreadsheets and/or Word documents.
Perform other related research assignments as directed by the supervisor.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time.
5 - 7 hours per week.
Salary Range:
$20.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Must be currently enrolled as a graduate student at American University.
Strong research and information-gathering skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Strong written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage assignments within a limited weekly schedule.
Preferred Education and Experience:
No prior professional work experience required.
Experience conducting academic, institutional, or comparative research is preferred.
All AU students are eligible to apply for this position, with a preference for those students with a Federal Work Study award.
