TUI is the largest leisure, travel and tourism company globally, and it owns travel agencies, hotels, airlines, cruise ships and retail shops.As a Lead Automation QA Engineer, you will join a cross-functional team dedicated to building seamless software solutions for our customers. With a passion for quality, you will collaborate effectively with your team to deliver exceptional solutions that meet customer needs. You will take full ownership of applications throughout their lifecycle, from design through to operation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall quality assurance strategy across teams and projects.
- Define and standardise quality metrics, testing frameworks, and methodologies.
- Ensure alignment between business goals and testing objectives.
- Work closely with TTLs, Product Owners, and Architects to enforce quality best practices.
- Drive continuous testing in CI/CD pipelines.
- Advocate for performance testing and accessibility standards.
- Mentor and coach QAs across teams to improve technical skills and testing approaches.
- Collaborate with DevOps to implement resilient test environments.
- Monitor and improve test efficiency and automation coverage.
- Align testing efforts with regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Support business acceptance testing and ensure smooth production releases.
- Provide strong leadership in testing and quality assurance.
- Drive quality strategy at domain level.
- Demonstrate excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Bring strong expertise in test automation and performance testing.
- Show commitment to mentoring and upskilling QA teams.
Qualifications
- Strong experience leading quality assurance and test automation across multiple teams or products.
- Ability to define quality strategy, quality gates, and measurable testing objectives aligned with business goals.
- Hands-on expertise with TypeScript and JavaScript for automated testing.
- Strong practical experience with Playwright and Playwright Test Runner.
- Experience designing scalable automation frameworks using the Page Object pattern or equivalent maintainable patterns.
- Strong understanding of API testing using Playwright API testing or equivalent tools.
- Experience with mocking, stubbing, and request interception for reliable test design.
- Good experience integrating automated tests into GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of test efficiency, automation coverage, flakiness reduction, and continuous improvement of test suites.
- Experience with performance testing strategy and quality criteria for customer-facing digital products.
- Good understanding of accessibility standards and how to embed accessibility checks into engineering workflows.
- Experience working with DevOps and engineering teams to improve test environments, stability, and release confidence.
- Experience using Git, npm, ESLint, and modern engineering practices.
- Good understanding of code quality and security tooling such as SonarQube.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with TTLs, Product Owners, Architects, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
- Compelling coaching and mentoring skills for improving QA capability across teams.
- Customer-centric mindset, passionate about delivering reliable digital products and services.
- Strong problem-solving skills coupled with clear communication and pragmatic decision-making.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, highly autonomous, and able to drive alignment across teams.
