Summary:
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for leading multi-district store operations across a defined region, ensuring strong financial performance, operational excellence and leadership development. The Regional Operations Manager serves as a strategic leader responsible for driving regional growth, building operational capability, and aligning field operations with Company objectives. The Regional Operations Manager acts as a coach and mentor to District Managers and a key strategic partner to the Vice President of Operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to a team of District Managers, Store Managers and field teams across the assigned region.
- Routinely shape positive & constructive feedback to ensure the entire team is set up for success.
- Develop and execute a succession planning strategy and leadership pipeline across the region.
- Oversee the recruiting, hiring and selection of District Managers.
- Serve as a positive, professional role model for all field leaders and team members throughout the region.
- Ensure compliance with employment policies, wage and hour requirements, training standards and Company expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all sales and operational functions within the assigned region.
- Lead region-wide initiatives to implement best practices, process improvements and operational standards.
- Assume accountability for regional/operational initiatives, underperforming districts and market entry or expansion efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (HR, Finance, Marketing, IT, Service Departments, etc.) to deliver integrated regional strategies.
Operational Leadership
- Drive excellence in convenience retail, fuel, deli, Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs), car washes & lube stores within the assigned region.
- Ensure all stores meet individual store budgets and regional Company goals.
- Conduct regular field visits and operational reviews across the region to assess performance and drive continuous improvement; oversee completion of store and corporate reporting across all districts.
- Champion and support region-wide field training initiatives for store team members, focusing on Guest service standards, operational practices, leadership soft skills and compliance requirements.
- Ensure consistent inventory practices across the region, drive accountability for compliance and partner with District Managers and Loss Prevention to address discrepancies.
Financial Performance
- Own regional performance to include sales growth, margin improvement, labor management, expense control and profitability.
- Analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize store efficiency and profitability.
- Develop and execute action plans that support budget achievement, profitable growth and continuous improvement across the region.
Safety Compliance
- Promote a strong safety-first culture and work with District Managers to enforce safety protocols and procedures in an effort to ensure each location is clean, safe and Guest Ready.
- Ensure compliance with all state, local and federal regulations including safety, security, food safety, alcohol and tobacco requirements, age-restricted products, fuel operations and environmental requirements.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, develop correction action plans in partnership with the applicable support center team, and implement preventative measures to minimize future occurrences.

Required Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing 20+ locations (or a geographically dispersed multi-unit portfolio) and major projects/initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendor partners and Guests.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills; ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization and can look at situations from several points of view.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; keen attention to detail.
- Requires rapid and thorough decision making and creative problem-solving skills, good judgment as well as the ability to accept personal accountability for areas of responsibility.
- Acts with integrity and professionalism.
- Experience with MS Office suite; intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel preferred.
- Experience managing others is required.
- 75% travel is required; day travel on a regular basis, overnight travel on occasion.
- Irregular hours, holidays and weekends will be required according to the needs of the business.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in convenience retail, fuel, deli, Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs), car wash, lube, grocery or another multi-unit retail environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk/hear, push/pull, climb, bend/stoop, crouch/kneel/crawl, taste/smell, balance, twist/reach, carry, grasp with hands, squat, drive and use keyboard.
- Lifting Requirements: Lift/pull up to 50lbs daily or 100lbs on occasion.
- Hearing Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, communication equipment, verbal instructions and machinery along with any area specific items.
- Cognitive Requirements: Complex reading, writing and math skills. Complex speech skills; must be able to speak, read, write & understand the English language, clerical tasks, memorization, analytical skills, function under stress & make independent decisions.
- Vision Requirements: General vision requirements in addition to close vision (<20 inches), Distance Vision (>20 feet), color vision and peripheral vision.
- Noise Levels: Normal (<85dB) noise levels and Loud (>85dB) noise levels on occasion.
- Repetitive Motion(s): Regularly & repetitively use both feet and both hands.
- Environmental Factors: General working conditions include wet/humid/steam conditions not created by weather, slippery floors, hot grease, working with mechanical parts and machinery including machinery that contains moving parts, toxic/caustic chemicals, concentrated soaps & cleaning solutions, asbestos exposure, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat/cold, confined areas, pressurized equipment, Oxygen/Acetylene, Cylinders, CO2 Cylinders, electrical equipment, vibration, possible flying debris, flashing/strobing lighting and work around vehicles in motion.
