Description
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Water Truck Driver / Laborer to join our Asphalt Milling and Base Prep team. This position plays a critical role in supporting roadway construction operations by safely operating a water truck for dust control, compaction support, and site maintenance. When not driving, this individual will work alongside the crew performing a variety of construction labor duties related to asphalt milling, base installation, grading, and roadway preparation.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, willing to work outdoors in a fast-paced construction environment, and enjoys being part of a hands-on crew. Previous construction, asphalt, grading, or utility experience is preferred but not required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate a water truck to support milling, grading, and base preparation operations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain required vehicle documentation.
- Fill, transport, and distribute water for dust suppression, moisture conditioning, and jobsite support.
- Monitor water usage and coordinate refilling activities to keep production moving efficiently.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Assist with roadway preparation activities, including base rock installation, grading support, and cleanup.
- Perform general construction labor duties when not operating the water truck.
- Assist operators, foremen, and crew members with daily production activities.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Direct traffic or assist with work zone setup when necessary.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and production needs to supervisors.
- Properly wear and utilize required PPE at all times.
- Work extended hours, weekends, and travel when project demands require it.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Class B CDL preferred (Class A is a plus).
- Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one.
- Previous experience operating a water truck, dump truck, or other commercial vehicle preferred.
- Construction experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with asphalt paving, milling, grading, base preparation, or heavy civil construction is a plus.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and active construction operations.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to perform labor-intensive tasks as needed.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
