The role

As The Magnum Ice Cream Company becomes operationally independent from Unilever, it is imperative we execute the data and analytics strategy to ensure our business is equipped with necessary analytical solutions for their daily decision making.

As part of this, we are enhancing our data governance capabilities and advancing our Azure-based data platform (Lakehouse, Databricks, Power BI) to support enterprise-wide reporting.

As a Data Governance & Quality SME you are responsible for establishing and embedding a strong data governance framework across the organization. You ensure data is accurate, consistent, secure, and effectively managed by defining standards, ownership models, and quality controls

What you'll be responsible for

As the Data Governance & Quality SME you will:

Establish enterprise data governance

• Design and implement a scalable, enterprise-wide data governance framework
• Define and operationalize data ownership models (Data Owners, Data Stewards)
• Establish clear standards, policies, and governance processes across key data domains
• Develop and maintain a business-aligned data dictionary and metadata standards
• Drive data quality and trust
• Define and enforce data quality rules and controls for critical data elements
• Implement monitoring, validation, and data quality KPIs / SLAs
• Lead data issue identification, root cause analysis, and resolution processes
• Ensure a reliable single source of truth for reporting and analytics
• Enable a modern data platform
• Partner closely with Data Engineering to guide the evolution of our Azure-based platform (Data Lakehouse, Databricks, dbt, Power BI)
• Ensure data is structured, scalable, and analytics-ready
• Integrate governance, quality, and metadata into platform design and deliver
• Embed governance into business operations
• Align data strategy with business priorities across functions
• Integrate governed data into core processes, reporting, and decision-making
• Drive adoption of data standards and governance practices across teams
• Ensure compliance, security, and audit readiness
• Ensure adherence to data privacy, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements
• Implement robust data access controls and security practices
• Maintain audit readiness through clear policies, controls, and documentation
• Enable advanced analytics & AI readiness
• Ensure high-quality, governed data supports advanced analytics and AI use cases
• Collaborate with analytics teams to enable trusted data for modeling and insights

We're looking for someone who

This role demands a blend of analytical and functional skills along with good stakeholder management. An ideal candidate will have:

•             8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data engineering

•             Proven experience implementing data governance frameworks in large organizations

•             Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (Azure, Databricks, dbt, or similar)

•             Strong knowledge of:

o            Data quality management

o            Metadata and data cataloging

o            Master data management

o            Data governance operating models

•             Ability to translate business needs into scalable data solutions

•             Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders

•             Experience in cross-functional, global environments

•             SQL and data modeling knowledge is a plus

•             Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) is a plus
