Position Title: Instrumentation & Electrical Technical Leader
Position Summary
To ensure that safety is priority #1.
To ensure all production 24/7 operations plants are maintained in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Ensure the on-going training & development of the maintenance crew.
Under minimal supervision perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. Maintain and improve facilities.
Provide repair and maintenance support in the instrumentation and control areas of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform skills including, but not limited to instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
Ensure that production operations are kept in good repair and maintained in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.
Ensure that safety related items receive the highest priority. This includes planned maintenance on safety equipment, pressure relief devices etc.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
Occasional evening/night and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Always Follows all Safety Procedures. Makes recommendations to improve areas as appropriate. Promotes ‘Safety First’ to the maintenance crew.
In conjunction with the Planner & Reliability Engineer, identifies and eliminates repetitive and other maintenance problems.
Organizes and supervises the 11-person maintenance crew and 5-person boiler house operators. Provides leadership and guidance as required.
Holds maintenance technicians responsible and accountable for the quality of their work, productivity, and effectiveness.
Coordinates with the maintenance planner and production management to define priorities. Ensure that both planned and preventative maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
In conjunction with the planner, ensures that overtime is controlled and use of third parties is kept under agreed levels.
In conjunction with the planner & stores coordinator, ensures parts are affordable and available as required.
Coaches and identifies, perform training needs of maintenance personnel. Promotes team working development within the maintenance crew.
Responsible for FSSC/CGMP plant compliance issues with the maintenance manager as the primary. Carries out FSSC/ISO quality audits and ensures compliance against the standards and in maintenance documentation. Tracks, with the planner, issues with FSSC/CGMP work orders and ensure prompt and effective closure.
Organizes and supervises the provision and execution of maintenance work by third party suppliers where necessary.
Ensure that complete and accurate documentation such as work orders, safety permits, etc. is kept.
Ensure all processes, procedures and documentation are up to date with ISO compliance.
Responsible for properly maintaining circa $100 million of plant equipment and facilities on a day-to-day basis
Control Maintenance budget and spending
Education & Experience
Education:
An associate’s degree or higher from an approved institution is required.
City of Chicago Electrician’s license and ISA Certification is a plus.
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years hands on experience in a continuous process or chemical plant with a focus on routine preventative maintenance; upgrading/maintaining plant facilities, troubleshooting instrumentation and control problems, and certifying plant instruments following established ISO Guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, & Talents
Knowledge of the use of power tools, specifically the Allen Bradley PLC’s, Fisher Rosemont, Delta-V D.C.S, Mass Flow Meters, DP Cells, Pumps, Valves and rotational equipment, electrical systems/controls (24v-480v) and electrical heat tracing (277v) and VFD’s.
Mechanical skills and experience is a plus.

Pay
The estimated base pay range for this position is: $77,000 - $115,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, qualifications, skills and geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in a short-term incentive program.
