This role is in Governance and Business Services (GBS) and is part of 1st Line within the Multifamily Division at Freddie Mac in McLean, VA. GBS leads the division in managing operational risk, in compliance with the Corporate Enterprise Risk Management framework. 

As an Operational Risk & Controls Senior in GBS, you will support Multifamily Process Owners in managing third-party supplier risk by using an integrated approach to operational risk frameworks, collaborating with the 2nd line, 3rd line, and other business lines counterparts. You will engage with key business process owners to assess and monitor inherent risks associated with suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls.  This role also offers an excellent opportunity to gain insight into our Multifamily business. The responsibilities are time-sensitive and carry a high level of visibility both within the Multifamily division and across the company.

Our Impact:

Our team leads third-party risk management for the Multifamily division, serving as trusted advisors to business process owners. We ensure compliance with all corporate third-party risk policies, standards, and procedures, and proactively partner with stakeholders across all three lines to assess and mitigate supplier risks.

We oversee the identification and resolution of supplier risk findings, addressing vulnerabilities to enhance organizational resilience. Our remediation monitoring program ensures timely and effective management of supplier risk issues.

By providing expert guidance and fostering a strong risk management culture, we help our business partners understand and address the risks associated with supplier engagements.

Your Impact:

As an integral part of our high-performance team, you will proactively assist the team to manage third-party supplier risks. Your primary responsibilities include:

• Conduct third party inherent risk assessments by collaborating with business partners and engaging Subject Matter Experts to identify supplier risks.
• Oversee remediation of supplier control gaps by partnering with contract owners, driving management and dissolution of supplier risk findings.
• Facilitate the development of supplier contingency plans to prevent disruptions from affecting key Multifamily business processes.
• Support the team in performing third party reconciliations, metrics monitoring, management reporting, and meeting corporate requirements.
• Provide information and support to business stakeholders regarding third party risk management best practices and risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 5+ years of related work experience, such as in Risk Management, Internal Audit and/or External Audit
• Experience in third-party risk management preferred
• Familiar with Third-Party Risk management or Operational Risk Management concepts
• Effective project management, communication, and presentation skills to work effectively with various levels of leadership
• Strong Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint skills

• Problem-Solving and advanced excel skills a plus

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $96,000 - $144,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
