This role requires 2 days a week onsite at our office in Chanhassen, MN.

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated and curious Software Engineer to join our Product Development team. In this role, you will build and enhance C#/.NET services that power our cloud-first, multi-tenant SaaS platform. You will work on a team that has made AI-assisted development a core part of how it builds software, using Claude Code and a spec-driven development approach to move from well-defined requirements to high-quality, production-ready code. 

What You'll Get to Do

 As a Software Engineer, you will design, build, and support back-end services and APIs as a contributing member of an Agile team. You will pair strong engineering fundamentals with modern AI tooling, taking ownership of features from specification through deployment while continuing to grow your technical depth.  

Technical Contributions

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven back-end services using C#/.NET. 
• Work with SQL and NoSQL data stores (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB) to model, query, and manage data efficiently. 
• Build and deploy cloud-based solutions on Azure, including containerized services running on Kubernetes. 
• Collaborate with Product Owners, front-end engineers, QA, and DevOps to translate business requirements into working software. 

AI-Assisted and Spec-Driven Development

• Use Claude Code as a core part of your daily workflow for design exploration, implementation, testing, refactoring, and troubleshooting across complex, distributed systems. 
• Contribute to written specifications, including requirements, acceptance criteria, API contracts, and technical design notes, that guide both human and AI-generated implementation. 
• Critically review and validate AI-generated code, taking full ownership of its correctness, security, performance, and maintainability. 
• Help improve the team's shared AI tooling and practices, such as Claude Code skills, project context files, prompts, and MCP integrations. 

Engineering Excellence

• Write clean, testable code backed by unit and integration tests and automated CI/CD pipelines. 
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, giving and receiving constructive feedback. 
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues in back-end services. 

Collaboration and Growth

• Share knowledge with teammates, including effective patterns for working with AI tools. 
• Continuously build your skills in cloud architecture, distributed systems, and AI-assisted engineering. 

Operational Ownership

• Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of production issues, including occasional after-hours escalation when necessary. 
• Use logging, monitoring, and alerting tools to understand and improve system health. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required 

• 3+ years of professional experience in back-end software development. 
• Strong proficiency in C# and modern .NET, including ASP.NET Core (.NET 8 or later; we're on .NET 10). 
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices. 
• Solid knowledge of relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases. 
• Experience with Azure cloud services, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines. 
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor) in your development work, along with an eagerness to go deeper. 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the judgment to verify rather than blindly accept generated output. 
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write and follow a technical specification. 
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment. 

Preferred

• Experience with spec-driven development or writing technical specifications and design documents before implementation. 
• Experience authoring Claude Code skills, custom commands, or MCP server integrations. 
• Experience with event-driven messaging (Azure Service Bus, MassTransit). 
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). 
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog. 
• Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and SOLID principles. 
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence. 
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
