Environmental Conditions

Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.), Will work with hazardous/toxic materials

Job Description

Location: Grand Island, NY. Relocation assistance is NOT provided.

2nd Shift Hours: Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of manufacturing professionals in a quality-focused environment.

  • Promote operational excellence while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in the production of scientific instruments and solutions.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cultivate a culture of innovation.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production goals while developing team members' capabilities.

  • Oversee daily operations including resource planning, schedule execution, and performance management to deliver products that enable our customers to make a positive global impact.

  • Use equipment that includes mixers, mills, blenders, pumps, filtration systems, packaging equipment, and laboratory equipment.

  • Weigh, measure, and verify raw materials using a computer interface to ensure batches contain accurate materials and quantities.

  • Calibrate and operate manual, semi-automated, and automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Identify and troubleshoot common equipment failure modes.

  • Follow all safety practices, policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions in controlled environments, including classified clean rooms.

  • Participate in Safety, Quality, and Productivity discussions.

  • Assist with ownership of projects and completion of action items.

  • Solve problems by applying departmental knowledge.

  • Complete and maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for departmental documentation and practices.

  • Perform a variety of complex manufacturing tasks related to the production of cell culture media.

  • Perform other related duties as required to meet business goals and operational requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Experience with quality systems and documentation control.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO, and safety regulations.

  • General understanding of technical, mechanical, and manufacturing equipment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail when following complex instructions and completing documentation while maintaining quality standards.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing and training others on multiple manufacturing processes in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work with support groups to complete project initiatives.

  • Availability to work overtime and flexible shift patterns.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a powder manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods while performing assigned duties.

  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards.

  • No hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair, or similar items permitted in designated manufacturing areas.

  • Exposure to loud manufacturing equipment and machinery.

  • Exposure to strong odors from chemicals, powders, lubricants, and biological products.

  • Ability to squat, bend, and reach as required to complete assigned tasks.

  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including work uniform, steel-toe shoes, hair net, beard guard (when required), safety glasses, gloves, and additional PPE such as bump caps, face shields, and full/half-face respirators as needed.

  • May work with hazardous or toxic materials.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $27.41–$37.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
