Engineering | Chemical and Biomolecular EngineeringThe Kimmel Lab within the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular and Engineering is seeking a Research Lead Technician (Research Technician 4). This will be a Lead level Research Technician role within the College. This is a Technical Track role where the work will be achieved through individual efforts as well as participation through project teams. The work will be technical and operational in nature. The Manager will provide the Research Technician with clearly established guidelines and procedures.
Candidate will have the most advanced technical and operational experience with a Research and Laboratory Environment. Individual will serve as a Lead for other Research Technicians within the Department. Individual will have advanced knowledge of both processes and equipment within the laboratory and research spaces. Lead will provide training to both Undergraduate Students as well as incoming PhD Students. The Lead will train them on aseptic technique, scaffold fabrication, histology, imaging, animal husbandry and surgery etc. Individual will be able to anticipate, recognize and solve complex issues within the Research/Laboratory environment and be able to answer less experienced Researcher questions within the Department. Lead Technician will require less supervision than less experienced Researchers. Lead Technician will be able to log, communicate and analyze research data when applicable.
The Research Lead Technician will support ongoing research projects in chemistry, protein engineering, and applied cell engineering systems. The role requires expertise in chemical synthesis and small molecule characterization, recombinant protein expression and purification, biconjugation of proteins, in vitro cell culture and associated assays, and ex vivo analysis of tissue. The role includes support for the group in managing research programs and supporting grant submissions, maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory, mentoring of students, and training of students in technical assays.
Required Education:
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
Desired Education:
Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
Desired Experience:
1 year of experience in protein expression, chemical synthesis, and cell-based assays
