This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Melbourne, FL. Over 10-12 weeks, you will assist with the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants.
This paid internship offers real project work as you support project budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team serves cleanrooms and manufacturing facilities, automotive retail, hotels, and condominium developments.

What You'll Do
- Assist with design portions of projects related to electrical systems according to code and IMEG standards.
- Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources.
- Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
- Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
- Assist with documenting design decisions, client meetings, and instructions while monitoring project design progress.
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.
- Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement.
What You'll Bring
Required Education
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
