Job Purpose
The Student Engagement Assistant provides a physical (and sometimes virtual) presence, supporting student organizations and leaders on campus. Students in this role serve as a resource to the campus community, assist with student engagement opportunities, and serve as a positive example for other student leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs administrative duties at the Student Engagement Desk (e.g., answers emails and phone, greets and triages student leader requests at our desks, works with forms and spreadsheets to provide services to student organizations, assists with event and programming logistics)
- Assists with social media and website presence of the office
- Supports student organizations in understanding and navigating relevant campus policies, event programming and logistics
- Processes purchase requests and expense reimbursements
- Assists with office’s and campus’ major events
- Approves and organizes posters per college policy in Fowler Student Center
- Fulfills other duties as assigned
Schedule
- Work shifts traditionally take place between 10:00 AM 5:00 PM, Mondays-Fridays.
- Student must be able to work 4-8 hours per week.
- On occasion, students may be offered additional evening and weekend shifts to support College event schedule.
Rate of Pay
- $16.80 / hour
Work Study Requirement
- Federal or L&C Work Study preferred
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Candidates should have an attention to detail, a service-oriented mindset, and an enthusiasm to work as part of a team supporting student leaders and organizations.
- Students who take initiative, are able to work independently, care about their work and exhibit a friendly and welcoming attitude will thrive in this role.
- Experience with or enthusiasm to learn Google Workspace software (Docs, Forms, Sheets, etc.), Website and Social Media management, Content Production, and/or Event Management skills.
- Familiarity with and/or interest in campus programs, events, and organizations on campus.
- Ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals, particularly those who are underrepresented at the college.
- Priority will be given to students who hold no other campus jobs and whose schedules match the needs of our service desk.
