DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst will lead complex financial reporting, accounting, and process improvement initiatives across the health system. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing internal, external, and consolidated financial reports for UW Medicine Select Units and Harborview Medical Center, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies. Key responsibilities include month end accounting entries including joint venture accounting, state appropriation and lease accounting, as well as supporting month-end close activities and audit processes.
As a member of the Accounting Team, the analyst collaborates closely with UW Medicine and entity leadership to deliver timely, relevant financial insights that support strategic decision-making. The position plays a critical role in evolving financial systems and reporting standards to meet the demands of a rapidly changing healthcare environment. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex affiliate relationships and financial systems with minimal disruption to operations.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
- Lead Financial Reporting & Certain Month-End Close Activities: Oversees complex reporting tasks and accounting for state appropriations and leases.
- Collaborative Financial Analysis & Reporting: Partners closely with UW Medicine and entity leadership to deliver timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial reports.
- Strategic Process Improvement & Systems Integration: Plays a key role in evolving financial systems and processes to support UW Medicine’s strategic initiatives and respond to industry changes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field
- 5+ years working experience demonstrating familiarity with the process flow and functions of an accounting department
- High level of familiarity with US GAAP and GASB
- Advanced skill level in using General Ledger applications and supporting software programs, including Excel, and PowerPoint
