We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to provide technical, programmatic, and organizational leadership supporting the Boeing International Space Station (ISS) program in Huntsville, Alabama. This position is designed for a senior software engineering professional with extensive experience leading complex software development and test organizations, coordinating multiple software configuration items, and interfacing directly with NASA customers and Boeing management.

Responsibilities
The Lead Software Engineer will:
- Provide leadership for a large, multidisciplinary software development and test organization supporting mission-critical ISS systems.
- Be responsible for the span of software development and test planning, technical documentation, configuration and change control, staffing, budgeting, cost and schedule estimating, software release coordination, and program reporting.
- Serve as a senior technical representative to NASA-chaired boards and panels, where the engineer will present team positions, negotiate schedules, communicate technical and programmatic impacts, resolve action items, and commit organizational plans.
- Bridge technical execution with program management while effectively communicating with engineers, management, government customers, and other program stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus fifteen (15) years of software or systems engineering experience, preferably supporting aerospace, NASA, Boeing, or other complex government programs, or any equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading software development and test organizations or multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience with software development schedules, cost management, staffing plans, and Estimate-at-Completion (EAC) activities.
- Experience working directly with NASA or other government customers, including presenting technical and program status at formal reviews, boards, or panels.
- Experience with software configuration management, change control, software releases, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering, software integration, and test processes.
- Extensive experience in aerospace software engineering, ISS flight software, software development and test, systems engineering, configuration management, cost and schedule management, and NASA/Boeing program environments.
- Experience developing staffing plans, proposal estimates, statements of work, and requirements for new business is also highly valuable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief and coordinate effectively with engineers, customers, and senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lb.
- Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
- Generally, an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

- Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
- Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
- Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
- This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
