Duties & Responsibilities:
The Material Coordinator at Viavi Solutions Inc. is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of materials within the supply chain, supporting manufacturing operations, and maintaining inventory integrity.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment.
- Checks goods received and for distribution against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of goods and rejects unsatisfactory items.
- Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges.
- Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift.
- Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped.
- Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in inventory warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing lines.
- Manage and coordinate the movement of materials, including receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping.
- Perform accurate inventory control tasks, including cycle counts, stock checks, and discrepancy resolution.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for material transactions, data entry, and report generation.
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, and quality departments to ensure material availability and resolve material-related issues.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including packing lists, bills of lading, and international shipping forms.
- Operate material handling equipment such safely and efficiently (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the warehouse and material storage areas.
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize material flow and reduce waste.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a material handling, inventory control, or logistics role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory management and material transactions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
