Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Tax Consultant to join our client's Family Office and Private Client (FOPC) tax team. This role is based in Jersey and offers a unique opportunity to work within a dynamic and growing team that provides exceptional tax advisory and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and private clients.
As part of a regional network of over 3,000 professionals across 11 island jurisdictions, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality client service, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to the growth of our client's private client practice. This position offers excellent career progression opportunities, including a clear path toward Senior Manager and Director roles.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Tax Consultant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior tax staff to foster their professional growth.
- Drafting comprehensive written tax advice, including memos, letters, reports, and email correspondence.
- Managing a portfolio of individual and corporate tax compliance cases, reviewing tax returns, and overseeing the work of junior team members.
- Attending client meetings alongside management and serving as a central point of contact for client communication.
- Staying updated on local and international tax developments and assisting in the preparation of client-facing news bulletins.
- Independently managing projects from inception to completion, often liaising with international offices.
- Preparing high-quality tax computations and written advisory work, balancing compliance and advisory responsibilities.
- Providing feedback, training, and coaching to junior team members to enhance their technical and professional skills.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A professional qualification such as ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA, or ATT (part-qualified candidates with plans to complete their qualification within 6–12 months will also be considered).
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience for Manager-level roles or 5 years for Senior Manager-level roles.
- A strong technical understanding of personal tax issues, including income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and other relevant areas.
- Previous experience in a private client setting is preferred, though not essential if a solid understanding of tax principles can be demonstrated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and internal stakeholders.
- A proven ability to research complex tax issues and present cohesive arguments.
- A background in law or accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A passion for learning, a natural curiosity, and a commitment to personal and professional development.
