Overview
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Branch Director, the Middle School Director plans and executes of a broad range of programs for middle school members (such as Education, Social Recreation, STEAM, Leadership and Service, and Physical Education) with the primary concern for the program of activities. The Middle School Director supports our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship of our members. Markets and establishes community relations to support middle school programs. Safety is the number one priority of the Middle School Director.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Due to the relationships with members, staff, and volunteers, a minimum of 2 years commitment is recommended. Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
Qualifications
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Preferred a 4 year college degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of equivalent/relevant work experience based on the development needs of youth ages 10 -14 years old.
- Strong communication skills, understanding of group dynamics.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.
- Basic knowledge of updating and managing websites.
- Ability to repair technology equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated knowledge of audio/visual equipment use (projectors, screens, televisions, security systems etc.).
- Experience using video development software and other softwares.
- Mandatory CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications.
- Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record.
- Ability to learn and teach Boys & Girls Clubs of America's programming in the 3 focus areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character and Leadership.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Use of hands and upper extremities to type and operate computers.
- Manual dexterity to repair equipment.
- Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand and walk to supervise members.
- Noise level in work environment varies from very quiet to very noisy based on attendance.
- Supervision of large, medium, and small groups is required. BGCCV staff ratio is 1 adult per 20 members.
