Working within a collaborative academic environment, you will contribute to the design, delivery and continuous improvement of Social Work topics, applying innovative teaching approaches and technologies to enhance student engagement and success. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through teaching, curriculum development, student support and professional engagement.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging learning experiences through lectures, tutorials, workshops, practical classes and student assessment across Social Work topics.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, topic planning and the ongoing enhancement of teaching practices, learning resources and educational technologies.
  • Provide academic guidance, pastoral support and professional advice to students to foster their academic success and career development.
  • Engage in service and professional activities, including participation in committees, community engagement initiatives and ongoing professional development within the discipline.

About the Lecturer (Level B) Roles

We are seeking passionate and dedicated academics to join the Social Work discipline in either a Teaching Specialist or Teaching and Research capacity. These positions play a key role in delivering high-quality education that prepares students for professional social work practice while contributing to a collaborative and student-centred learning environment. Depending on the appointment type, the successful candidate will focus primarily on excellence in teaching and field education or combine high-quality teaching with the development of an active research profile that advances knowledge and practice within the discipline.

You will:

  • Deliver engaging and contemporary teaching that supports student learning, professional capability development, and graduate success.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, topic coordination, assessment design, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, field educators, community organisations, industry partners, and professional bodies.
  • Contribute to discipline, College, and University initiatives, including accreditation, community engagement, and, for Teaching and Research appointments, scholarly and research activities that enhance the impact of the discipline.

These positions make a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan, Changing Lives, Every One Matters, by 2035 by working towards strengthening our ‘Here for Good’ core enabler through the preparation of future social work professionals who improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.

About You

You are an enthusiastic and collaborative Social Work academic with a passion for student learning and professional practice. You will bring contemporary disciplinary expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments. Whether your strengths lie in teaching excellence or the integration of teaching and research, you will be motivated to contribute to student success, academic quality, and positive community impact.

You will demonstrate:

  • Expertise in Social Work, with qualifications and professional experience that support high-quality teaching and student learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across students, colleagues, industry, and community partners.
  • A commitment to inclusive, student-centred education and continuous improvement in teaching practice.
  • The ability to contribute to scholarly, research, professional, and service activities that enhance the discipline and broader community impact.
