Primary
Responsible for the City’s implementation of the Indiana MS4 General Permit (MS4 GP) Minimum Control Measures (MCM) 1 and 2 (Education and Outreach, and Public Involvement, respectively). Tracks progress towards the Stormwater Quality Management Plan (SWQMP) measurable goals and reports results to the MS4 Coordinator. Leads education initiatives for other MCMs according to the SWQMP.
Coordinates and implements natural resources education and maintenance programs, includingAdopt-a-Drain, Storm Drain Marking Program, Hoosier Riverwatch, Clean Communities, and additional endeavors.
Plans, schedules, and manages events, conferences, and programs related to stormwater. Directs staff and volunteers during planning and execution of programs. Prepares and provides post activity evaluations, including financial reports, for events, conferences, and programs.
Instructs at trainings, workshops, and nature programs.
Designs and produces visual materials that simplify and communicate technical data using diversified media and creative tools like Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS or other visualization platforms.
Builds and maintains partnerships with organizations and educational institutions at the local, state, and national levels.
Administers grant programs offered by the MS4 Program.
Takes all reasonable steps to maintain a safe work environment.
Secondary
Shares program resources and information with other MS4s throughout the state, including speaking at conferences.
Serves as positional back-up for the MS4 Inspector and MS4 Program Coordinator, including conducting inspections.
Performs relatedduties as assigned by the MS4 Program Coordinator.
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Biological Science, Physical Science, or a related field or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position
At least one (1) year of experience in education, community engagement, or natural resources management.
Knowledge of Google Suite, ArcGIS products, and visual presentation applications such as Photoshop, Canva, PowerPoint, etc.
Prior experience with writing and contributing to grant proposals is preferred.
Ability to legally drive a vehicle on a regular basis to participate in events, conferences, and multi-agency meetings.
Work is primarily performed in a modern office environment, though field work is regularly necessary. Field work occurs weekly and includes hands-on training for Hoosier Riverwatch and Adopt-a-Drain as well as meeting onsite with potential and confirmed grant recipients to discuss and observe progress of grant projects. Special events might require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Schedules, including telework, must be approved by the supervisor in advance. Incumbent needs the ability to lift 35 pounds in order to transport educational materials to off-site locations.
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with MS4 Program staff, CBU’s Communications Manager, other City employees and partners, and members of the public.
