Senior Assistant Community Manager – Luxury Multifamily
Location: Washington, DC
Compensation: $31–$39 per hour + bonus
A well-established global real estate investment, development, and property management firm is seeking a Senior Assistant Community Manager for a high-profile luxury mixed-use community in Washington, DC. This Class A property offers an opportunity to work in a highly visible environment alongside residential leadership, commercial partners, ownership, and corporate stakeholders.
This is more than a traditional assistant manager role. The ideal candidate will bring a strong, hands-on understanding of multifamily operations, financial administration, leasing, collections, and resident relations, along with the polish and professionalism required to support a demanding, high-end resident base.
Working closely with an established Community Manager, you’ll take ownership of key operational responsibilities, resolve complex resident issues, and help drive property performance. For an ambitious multifamily professional ready to advance, this role offers a clear path toward a future Community Manager position.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily property operations, including accounts payable/receivable, invoice processing, rent collection, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Oversee resident accounts, delinquency follow-up, lease enforcement, renewals, move-outs, and collections.
- Manage leasing activities and contribute to occupancy, revenue, and resident retention goals.
- Build strong resident relationships, resolving sensitive or complex concerns with confidence and professionalism.
- Review resident files and maintain accurate documentation, with particular attention to affordable housing compliance requirements.
- Coordinate daily operations with maintenance and other on-site team members to ensure a seamless resident experience.
- Support ownership and corporate reporting, property tours, and communication with commercial partners.
- Step in for the Community Manager as needed, demonstrating leadership, sound judgment, and operational accountability.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a full-scope Assistant Community Manager or equivalent multifamily operations role, including AP/AR, invoicing, collections, leasing, renewals, and resident relations.
- Luxury Class A multifamily experience and the ability to excel in a high-visibility, service-oriented environment.
- Experience with a large institutional property management company such as Greystar, Bozzuto, Camden, Cortland, or a similar operator strongly preferred.
- Washington, DC affordable housing experience strongly preferred; candidates with other affordable housing experience may also be considered.
- Excellent communication, organization, financial administration, and problem-solving skills.
- A polished, professional presence and the ability to manage demanding resident concerns independently.
- Leadership potential and a genuine desire to grow into a Community Manager role.
- Property management software experience preferred; Entrata experience is a plus, but not required.
